Question water on inside passenger side floor

hey everyone, I just bought an '03 lightning about 3 weeks ago and recently went to vaccum it out and when I pulled but the passenger side floor matt it was all wet underneath. Most of the water seemed to be toward the inner front. If I remember correctly on older Ford truck I had had the same issue.

Does anyone know what might be causing the moisture? The only think I thought of may be moisture build up / condensation from the exhaust being right underneath??? - I haven't looked yet to see if the exhaust is right under that area, but it was my only guess. If that is the problem does anyone one have any suggestions? I there a heat shield I can install or something??

Thanks.

It is most likely you’re A/C drain hose. It is a problem on many of the 03’s and possible 04’s. Not sure exactly where this hose is located but someone may come along with more information because it has happened to many people.

When the A/C drain hose leaks it gets the carpet all wet on the passenger side as you described.

Thanks guys. I'm excited to have two people with the same thoughts. If anyone else agrees please let me know.

Is it something I should try and fix myself, or should I just take it to the dealer? - its still under warrenty.

COmmon happen to me,
I'd take a hard Right and the water would land on my feet (sandals) scared the ***** out of me.

The drain tube is plugged on your truck, find it and clear it and put a little bleach down there. )most likely algae growing in there) Seriously

It's the condensate drain from the evaporator core under the dash. I went through 3 service trips to get my 03 fixed. There is a little shield on the engine side of the firewall that is suppose to divert the drainage off the exhaust but the shield apparently interfers with drainage and backs it up and it runs out on the floor. It's just about impossible to see or reach the shield. The best route is through the wheel well but I would leave it to Ford to fix. The fix is to pull the shield off and install an elbow on the drain hose. My carpets got wet 2 or 3 times before they got it fixed but by drying them with a fan and sprinkling baking soda on them I was able to keep smelling fresh. Anyone with a 03 or 04 Lightning should keep an eye on the passenger floor carpet since this is a real common problem. Good luck
