methanol

Has anyone tried using methanol as a primary fuel with the lightnings? We used to use it on a dirt modified, quite a few years ago, made a couple more horsepower and kept the engine cooler with jetting. Basically we controlled the temperature with the jetting. I seem to remember using about 3x more fuel with the alcohol?? But this was all with a carbuerator!
Just food for thought. I doubt our injectors could spray the amount of fuel we would need.? Xuck Bin Laden and the arab peninsula!

By the way, we could stop exporting all of our corn and make racing fuel!

It does run cooler and solves a lot of problems but creates just as many as you said.

I suppose you could get biger injectors and a pump but it would be like having a 8 gallon fuel tank and be just for racing.

Our fuel systems are not designed for methanol which is highly corrosive.

What you need to look at is methanol/water injection. Do a web search under "Aquamist injection". It is a motor saver. Completely computerized system that injects meth into the combustion chamber. Can be programed to inject at boost pressure, rpm, etc. More H/P and no knock.

The Snow Performance kit is a better kit IMO, but I saw a loss in performance above 3500 RPM with what little testing I did on the L. The place I went for a dyno tune didn't want to spend the extra time to dig deeper and change things around. My A/F was in the 10's but I was running race gas with it at the time. The supposed gains come out of using pump gas with added boost and timing. I never got back there to do any more testing because I simply couldn't afford the time and money they were charging. Needless to say I was pissed off when I left there with like a $600 bill and basically the same tunes I had when I got there. I may do more testing at a later date though.

Yeah, I forgot about that, we had to change it after every race! But during tear down everything was pristine.
