St Louis,

1999+ JLP Air Induction Kit
$185.00
http://www.johnnylightningperf.com/s...php?cPath=2_16

At the time Johnny was also willing to sell it to me WITHOUT
the filter for like $150.00 I believe.
And yes it already has the 3" inlet in the bottom of the box,
so either you install it like that and leave the hole open to take in more air, "OR" you simply run some pipe or tubing to make it real cool air induction

From: Colorado,
The JLP box is a nice fit! Looks like some others are to.

I did not like the open air brackets that most use. Remember your MAF is hanging on that rubber snout.....

An RV dump hose from wall mart is a nice tight fit on the bottom of the JLP box.

If you go with the open air check you milage and see if it goes down any?

OH yeah. My JLP screams at WOT don't even notice a normal driving.

"HEY GUYS, THANKS FOR YOUR REPLIES. EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE EDUCATED ANSWERS, I AM JUST GONNA BE STUPID AND GET A HOT AIR SUCKIN OPEN ELEMENT FILTER WITH NO BOX SO THAT I CAN LOOSE SOME POWER AND KEEP THAT FILTER NICE AND DIRTY. AT LEAST IT WILL LOOK GOOD UNDER THE HOOD FOR THE FIRST WEEK I PUT IT ON RIGHT? THANKS AGAIN GUYS!" Sincerely, FunFord

Geez, its not that bad! Definately not worth wasting your time on a ruthless response like that. I prefer the JLP to an open air, but I have seen plenty of L's with open air that don't look that dirty

You really do want to keep an enclosed box set-up for optimum performance as the hotter and less ense air will mak you lose power. If you care more for what you prefer in looks to performance, then an open element it is.

with two 3# diameter holes going to my air box drawinv air from a scoop under the front bumper, the hot air is quickly replaced by cool air once I start moving, but from a dead dig, I am sucking hot air for the first 10' or so.

FunFord, I do in fact have an 03 Lightning. #1531. Sorry for the somewhat rude reply but if you have already decided that you want a hot air kit then why do you even ask which is better. Most if not all have said to go with something that will either direct cold air to the filter or a kit with a box like the AIRAID and JLP box. Do whatever you want....it's your truck right?
