Are you looking for track or street tires? I have the same rims as you and I run Michelin 225-75-16 for the drag strip. I figure the higher tire in front transfers some of the weight to the rear. 16x10 in the rear w/ Hoosier QTP's.

It really all depends on your reaction times.

If you are allways slow on the light go with a little smaller tire something like a tire with a 27 inch overall diameter.

If you red light a lot stay with a taller tire, something like a 28 inch overall diameter.

I kind of have the same question

As most know I run the AR 16x8 Black Rims I run my Hoosiers on,
A brother here gave me another set of those rims for free, and
they've been sitting around doing nothing, I'm wondering if there
would be an advantage on me mounting some tires on them and using them for the fronts ???? and what tires would I use,

THE GUY WITH NO REACTION TIME AT ALL
I go when my mind realizes the light show is over,
and it's dead green, GO ROB GO

Rob, what size slicks are you running on your 16x8's. I picked up a set and Im looking for some slicks to go on them. Thanks

I don't mean to answer for Rob. But your better off with a 16x10 for the rear. It won't bow the tire which equates to more contact with the ground. I run 16x10 with 11.5 - 16 QTP's.

Evo's right of course, but I and many do run 16x10 Hoosiers on 8" rims, I didn't plan it that way, I just happen to buy the Rims and Hoosier's from a Brother who sold his L.
I cut 1.6's on them 99% of the time, my worse ever 60ft with them was a 1.7 something....

You should be fine running Hoosier 28x10s on 16x8 rims. If you want to go any wider, I would recommend 16x10s.

But if you're going that route, I think the Hoosier Drag 28x10s are the best choice.
