???? I suspect something else besides that. All major gasolines contain a detergent additive package that aren't really all that disimilar. Shell is using catch words as a marketing ploy to generate interest in their gas.

This thread got lost in the debate over oil companies. hahaha But (coming from a fuel guy) there are only two major distributors in the US...with that said...most fuel comes from the same folks. Just my .02

Here in Rockford, IL we have unmanned Shell staions that sell gas for 5-7 cents cheaper a gallon compared to the other staions. mobil, Amoco, citgo, Phillips 66.

22 gallons @ $2.12= 46.64

or 22 gallons @ $2.06=45.32

differnce of $1`.32

times 52 weeks in a year. I would save $68.64 by using shell.

I got some bad gas this morning. I think it was from Taco Bell.

Reason I will never use Shell is they screwed up the additives a few months back and many vehicles had their fuel tank sending units ruined, and in my opinion if it was hard on the sending unit, what else suffered (fuel pump?).

With Amoco and Mobil in good supply, these are the only two stations I use. They also seem to have the most consistent anti-knock characteristics.

I wish Sunoco would offer 94 octane around here, but they don't.

I only run Shell fuel... in all 3 of my vehicles.. always have, always will...

my truck fits in the "modded" catagory I think, and guess what, NEVER had any problems with Shell fuel.. NEVER had ANY detonation.

I also have an 03 Cobra.. and Shell fuel is all that goes in the tank, same situation as the truck, NEVER a problem.

I work for a company called Computer Science Corporation, we have the Shell Oil Products US account (where I work I know all sorts of details on Shell, its practices, how it handles instances of "bad gas" and the like. From what I have seen and heard, Shell is as close to a stand up company you will find in the oil business.

I have a very good friend who is a drilling/concrete engineer for Chevron/Texaco... he also gets involved in the testing of gas and other elements extracted from lines that he designed and wrote the book on concreting...(enough rambling) He believes 100% in Shell fuels just like I do.. and HES A FREAKIN Chevron/Texaco VERY HIGH PAID engineer.

We pulled this same friends motor apart about 6 months ago, had 60,000 miles on it.. hes always ran Shell fuel and Mobile 1 oil in the motor... EVERY piece looked BRAND NEW.

welp, there is my .02

Funny this subject should come up. I just filled my daily beater Cavalier with 176,000 miles up yesterday. It's a shateater, never pings on any gas. That is until yesterday, with the shell v-power gas. I wouldnt put it in my L that is for sure. Just stick to amoco ultimate or chevron supreme. My truck likes them both. Of course the Cavalier takes 87 octane, but I do think shell's gas is inferior

Experts Opinion

Octane:RON and MON numbers

V-Power is rated 97 Octane here.
Normally we got 95 and 98 octane fuels.
That's equivalent to 90 and 93 in the US.

If we are talking about the same V-Power refinery process in Europe and the US, I doubt V-Power is 94 octane.
But I hope for you guys I am wrong.

Filled up my truck with V_power (5.4 non Lightning) and the engine run smoother on idle and responded much better.
Too bad, you have to pay more for it.
Current price here is $6.39/US Gallon.

90 Octane $6.17
93 Octane $6.435

Thanks for filling up with Shell.
