Shell's "v-power"??

what is this...and why is it "new"

a friend told me they added more "environmentally-friendly" additives... I don't know how I feel about that all being in my truck

can someone who knows chime in and tell me about the quality of this new 93 octane?

I've used several tanks of it in my truck and my wife's Navi. Haven't noticed any difference.

it cost me 1.999gl this am. was running chevron w/techron 93 and getting a stumble, the v-power cleared it up within 10 miles, or something

V Power is garbage. all gas is supposed to clean your engine, they just play off it more than others. Its like the whole "Hemi" thing. My tuner told me to stick with either Sunoco or Amoco (dont know what the hell that is) and to stay away from the rest because of too many additives.

Quess Im screwed because I only have Shell and BP around here.:(

Red03SVT Jul 13, 2004 02:39 PM

obviously, since I'm stock, I don't really care much about additives as long as I'm getting the proper octane and I'm not detonating...but using this fuel worries me if/when I do the whole pulley/chip thing... still confused whether this is a good thing or a bad thing--

some might say, "if you're worried about it, go with a different gas company" but I get free gas through shell (because of a family-owned company) and I'd like to use it as long as it's not harmful

Nope, BP and Amoco Oil are the same company now. All BP stations pump Amoco Fuels. No worries.

the commercials I have heard state that the V-Power stuff contains 5 tmes the amount of cleaners required......

that alone makes me not want it in my truck... too many additives sounds like a bad idea to me. I always run Chevron 93 or Sunoco 93..... I have never really liked Shell for some reason anyhow... also, Citgo gas always made my vehicles ping, even with the 93 octane

Actually BP bought Amoco, and not all BP stations serve Amoco fuels, only the ones that say "Amoco fuels" in small print below the BP flower logo serve it. (aka, former Amoco stations)

I was under the impression that BP, British Petroleum, was pumping Amoco Fuels into all the tanks. Oh well, thanks for the correction, I learn something new everyday!

I run Texaco 93 in my L, its the only gas station here that even has 93, infact the only gas station period that even has 93. Been running it since Feb and all seems to be good, others make me ping.

Actually, going back and reading, you're right... They have merged their gasoline lines now to only Amoco...it's the Diesel lines that still have both BP & Amoco fuels. Sorry. :)

BP is Amoco fuel. the two companies merged back in 1998. they are supposedly the largest retailer of gas in the United States. most BP (british petroleum) stations around here say Amoco fuel right on the pump, I believe out west they may call it Arco?

Well, that makes me fell better. I was using Shell, but now it will be BP. There are 2 here. One is a chity run down place with slow ass pumps and the other is really big with superfast pumps. Its so big they even have a Wendys in there.
