Angry Get a load of the garbage...

I call up and order a 4# pulley, a Gatorback belt (67.5") and an AirRaid Intake kit.

Ships out 2 days late, after the CS rep says it will go out 2:00 pm today.

It arrives today, and in the box is the correct AirRaid, the correct pulley and the wrong belt. They sent a 69.0" GB belt.

Get this, not only do I have to pay the return shipping, but am also responsible for a 20% restocking fee, for their screwup!

Does anyone else see anything wrong with the above? WTF should I have to pay for THEIR mistake?

Congrats RPMOutlet, you just lost another customer who spends more than they make!

Joe

That is crap if thats truly the way it went down. Have you tried calling them? I would expect any decent vendor to admit the POSSIBILITY of a mix up, and correct it. Good luck dude, hope everything works out, and I would try another phone call to straighten things out before you give up on them.

That sucks
I'd call the CC Company, and back the price out of just that item,
(tell them you didn't get it and the Shipper won't send another) then ship it back, and get your belt elsewhere.
Screw them.

I must say that I agree with my brother Ronbo on this one. Even if you asked for the wrong belt size a good vendor would have checked with you to see if you really needed a belt size that seemed out of the norm(IMO). If it was truly their mistake they should cover the shipping cost and no restocking charge.

You need to contact RPMOutlet again and demand to speak to someone with company decision rights. It's obvious that you talked to some CS Jackleg. What they are doing is absolutely illegal and is known as deceptive trade practices and you need to let them know that you know it. Just think if they do this 10 times out of 100 business transaction they are making a ton of free money so to speak and out right stealing from their customers.

What a novel idea, send the customer the wrong part then make them pay for shipping it back to you and charge them a restocking fee. That's a scam if I ever seen one!!

If you can't get any resolution over the phone by talking to someone with some authority, then it's time to file a complaint with the BBB (Which will do nothing but it gets it on record) and file a complaint with your States AG consumer protection divison. Final step will be filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.

Do not let them get away with this. Fight their asses tooth and nail.

Good luck!

That's why California and other states have consumer protection statutes that allow a consumer to bring an action on behalf of all similarly situated consumers and allow recovery of attorney's fees.

Otherwise, a business can keep screwing customers $10 at a time. These statutes give greedy lawyers (like me) an incentive to go after the business.

What a few of you have brought up, is what kills me. Say of the 4000-some Lightnings made this year, 1000 called up and ordered the same combo. $189.00 for the pulley and belt. They make it appear to be a great deal. "Wow, they are saving me money!" you say to yourself.

But when the box arrives and the belt is wrong, you can't install the pulley till you have the correct belt, so you have to send it back and play their game. $48.00 retail for the belt. You prepay shipping back to the Outlet, then pay THEM $9.60 to take it out of the box, place it on the shelf, then send you the correct part.

Thats an extra $9600.00 in profits these numbskulls make. By design!

I am sorry, I don't mean to sound like a cheapass, but my principles don't allow me to bend over like that, and they for damn sure don't allow me to be insulted by someone who thinks I'll pay it because I wasn't smart enough to see the design of the scam.

Arrrrrg. Enough rant, sorry to take up everyones time and bandwidth. Just wanted to let everyone know of an unsatisfying buying experience.

Sorry for your bad experiences 02Thunder

I would like to point out though that other vendors (supporting vendors) are not angels either. There is one major vendor in particular that I have a legit gripe with. I flat out was lied too and put off for about a month.

For all you newbies who are wondering why I won't name them out here please e-mail me. I'd be glad to share the trueth via direct e-mails where I cannot be sensored.

Call RPM outlet and talk to George, he is a good guy and will take care of you.

They are a much larger company than any of the vendors here and carry thousands of parts, so their chance to screwup is bigger. They shouldnt have, but call George and he will take care of you.

Later...

Bruce
