Angry What's up with the magazines???

I dont ever buy the truckin type mags but I picked one up today becausea article caught my eye.

Well I open it up to the index and here are some of the articles.

Brazin blazer
Sizzlin' S-10
Cascading Avalanche
Mighty mitsu
Clean Shavin' S-Dime (S10 article)
Two scoops are better than one (S10 article)
and on and on...

It's 95% chevy and others trucks?

I have looked at other mag's and it seems that they all must hate Ford and especially the lightning.

What the heck did Ford do to these guys to tick them off so much, besides building a truck that kicks there butt's?

I hear you Bro,
They seem to talk only about frigging Dodge and Cheby's these days (and of course the ricers) (Confused)

Frigging Chry/Ply/Dodge, they take such an easy path, I truly don't know how a company goes so far when every entire thing they make LOOKS THE SAME. Look at the schitt that made them famous, or brought them back from sure death, things like the Fury, K Car, and the Cara-Van
7 million differant models, and they all look identical (other than a VERY FEW special one's, Prowler, Viper,etc....
On Speed Vision last week during an interview one of the guys doing the interview told the Dodge Big Shot he doesn't like that every entire thing Dodge makes looks the same

I will say this though, a neighbor of mine just bought one of those Yellow Super Bee Ram Truck Thingys, and it def looks better than that fugly a$$ SRT-10

All I want to know is why Ford doesn't do SVT commercials

I suspect that it's because they don't want to sell too many. One of the three keys to the SVT division is "exclusivity." If they sold 100,000 SVTs per year, that would conflict with this goal.

Actually you are both wrong SVT now is commercialized.NASCAR has been runing a commericial with a 2004 SVT Lightning in it ,It states ''SVT Lightning, official truck of NASCAR''.In it they have a Lightning skidding up in front of the screen.

One sells by word of mouth and the fact their vehicles perform as stated (Ford SVT) while the other sells by spending millions of dollars on TV and print to sell something that is lucky to be half as good as Ford SVT, which would be Dodge, Chevy and the others…

Look at Dodge and the SRT-10, as soon as they got the speed record they went and spent millions on TV and print to promote and tell everyone while Ford rarely if ever had to go tell everyone about their high performance vehicles.

You have many more Hemi, SRT-10 and other owners that get more then a little pissy when they get beat by a Ford SVT product and that my friend makes up for all the trees they kill to promote their half *** attempt at “real performance”.

To be honest I probably would have never bought my Lightning if it wasn’t for this site and learning about it “first hand and with factual information” something you just don’t get in any print or TV for any brand…

Another thing that Tim alluded to about exclusivity is another reason I really wanted to own a Lightning there just isn’t that many around and when people see it, it really stands out whereas the Hemi reminds me of fly’s on chit, there all over like little nasty bugs and the Lightning is the bug zapper…

but what about articles and magazines??

Is there a reason they dont put and exhaust on a lightning or do a brake job on one step by step etc.

I do have to agree that getting a S10 to work on is a bit easier than a lightning.

However, there are plenty of F150's out there....

In the latest issue of Truck Trend there is a showdown on the L vs the SRT-10. Pretty good article but it's obvious that they are bias towards the Dodge. The SRT beat the L in all their performance test...but, by only a fraction! This is with a pro driver too! I got the impression that w/o a pro the L would have probably been more consistant. The SRT 0-60 was 4.9 compared to 5.1 on the L. 1/4 times 13.3 @ 106 compared to 13.6 @ 102 for the L. The only test that the L won was braking, outbraking the SRT by 2 feet. And, of course the price! All in all a pretty good article but when you consider 500/525 HP/TQ compared to 380/450 stock for stock that's not much difference in times. A non pro driver would likely have been a different story with that 6speed.

Once the SRT-10 isn't so new, you'll probably see fewer articles on it as well.

The reason you usually see S-10's, Avalanches, regular F150s, etc is because they are cheap to start with. You can get them for less then 20k...so there are more of them out there to toy with.

Just like Honda Civic's...there are not piles of REAL Civic Si's in articles...they're usually hopped up DX's...cheap starting point.
