My friend drags this bike weekly. He says he always runs low 10's. Here is my question to you guys. The guy who tested the bike for the magazine got a 10.68 on this bike. That guy probably practiced on if for a day and they took the best time. Now my friend has had this bike for a year and all he does is drag race it. Dont you think with the modifications he's done to the bike and the experiance at the drag strip he would at least pull 10's? also don't forget he weighs 120 pounds. I know he must have race slips to prove this. Maybe I could get him to comment on the board. Well either way I guess the L will not have a chance with this bike. Thanks for all the imput guys. All this talk about bikes makes me want to get one. I don't think I would start with a sportbike because I would kill myself.

I have a 2000 L and a 2003 Suzuki GSX-R 600. L runs low 13's (modded) and the 600 runs mid 11's (stock). Tell your buddy to get a clue before he picks a race

HAHAHA, you guys are all to funny!

Just tell you buddy in the lightning to jump over really quick towards your friend on the bike to scare the crap out of him. that way he'll get the big jump on him and then it should be interesting, LOL!

I love it when I'm on my R1 and guys in there vette's or camaro's pull up next to me and want to drag race me, LOL! Even if my bike was totally stock (136 hp rear wheel) it wouldn't be funny cause it runs low low 10's but now with all the mods I've done its silly with 164 hp at the rear wheel to try and even play with a bike thats only 395 pounds. And its not like the bike stops pulling after a 1/4 mile either, it just keep pulling all the way up to 180 like its nobodies business.

My buddy just sent his 04R1 down to a shop in FL for a 385 hp turbo R1 motor, now thats going to be sick a$$ *****!

P.S. Can I race his L with my 50? 88 cc big bore kit, race cam, race head ported out, ultima JR pipe, big bor ecarb kit jetted. Its only about 8hp right now, but its getting there. LOL

the guys who test those bikes would make your buddy look like a 2 year old kid on a hot wheel electric bike!

never mind I just read his mods and laughed, LOL!!!!!!!

Changing the rear sprocket will help with your acceleration but its not going to help that much. If you buddy can pull off a high 10 with his bike I'll be really impressed!! Sprocket change isn't going to help that much if any at all with the extra shifting he's got to do now. He's setup for stuntin, not drag racing, LOL!

The L won't even be close enough to read the bike's license plate at the end of 1/4...and it just gets worse from there. Sumbuddy is gunna get spanked bigtime!

General rule of thumb: If you don't run 9s or better don't mess with bikes!

He could stall the bike at the lights and still win. But, if your buddy was good enough to run 10's, I doubt he would stall it. Killa's right about the gears. I geared my 7R. It was quicker, but you had to shift a lot faster too (I actually couldn't believe the difference it made) and launching was a biatch. But, I had a pipe that gave it a nasty powerband as well, so that had something to do with it. Bikes are bad man. Those new liter bikes are plain stupid. 180 hp and 375 dry, all for 10 grand. That is like stealing. Where do I sign

'Killa,

I highly doubt a turbo R1 is going to pull 385 at the wheel...most of the big 'Busas are pulling that (with a few that have broken 500hp and NLR of Sweden laid-down 600+ on an engine dyno before popping a head gasket in dramatic fashion) and they've been turboing those for years. This I've got to see...

Talk about bringing a knife to a gun fight......IMHO your buddys L is going to be about 3/4 track when your other budys bike crosses the finish line. That's about how bad it's gonna be.

Tell your buddy the only way he's going to beat the bike to the end of the quater mile is if he races the bike like this.

I was at a red light once and I'm not big on street racing but this kid on his cool bike just kept revving and revving and it was a long light. He was relentless, he'd look over at me and rev. So when the light turned green, I nailed it, I stuck with him for about a tenth of a second and then this kid was flat gone. Good news is he got the ticket not me

This man is in touch with reality. Im 48 yrs old and I've been riding the baddest bikes that were available from 1972-now(which is now a 2000 hayabusa) I can honestly tell you a 600 anything will not run high 10's These test reports are with a specially prepped bike - front end strapped, numerous tire pressure combos, mapped ecu's and a 140 lb pro rider on board drilling the bike over 15 or so runs. Then altitude corrections are often applied. What this boils down to is that 99% of your 600's are usually in the low 12's or high 11's at best. I've seen a shizload of modded gsxr 750s hitting mid 11's all day long. This is not to say a 600 is slow by any means. It is a worthy and very quick bike.Due to power to weight ratios , it is a tough race but I can tell you it is a race you CAN win. 2 ways . The 1st way is to challange him from a 60 mph roll. (I've taken a gsxr 1000 this way with my L up to about 120) The other way is to surprize him from the light .This may be hard if he knows you will be racing him, but I almost nailed a gixxer 750 this way. He passed me at about 95 mph(this was almost a 1/4 mile run) Anyway, if your truck is modded, and his 600 is stock it may be closer than everyone here thinks.

Funny topic!

600RR's are the heaviest of the 600's. They're also near the top of the HP chain, with some 106hp to the rear wheels. Tell the bike guy to to run 1 gallon (7lbs) of Nutec with a remap, if he's serious about times. That'd be good for around 4-5 hp. The 3 gallons of gas weight savings (21lbs approx) will help some as well.

It's gonna be a funny race!

By the way, he'll never get in the 9's with that RR. the 2004 ZX10R's are good for 10.08 @ 145.34...with 162.1 hp at the rear wheel and are lighter weight than the 600RR's...

Yea holeshot is right...BUT Look at the zx10's mph. WOW !!!! That 146 is more in the mid 9 second catagory my friends.I read that article and it sounds like they had a hard time launching that wheelie machine. They said the kawi crossed the 1320 finish line ON ONE WHEEL!!!!!!
