Thumbs up Raced a Dodge prototype today.

This just made my day. It's starts off whith me going into plymouth. I drove up on a Prototype dodge neon with "M" plates exiting the free way on to Sheldon Rd.

So we happen to stop at the light heading south on sheldon in front of the visteon plant. He had a lane and then the car between us. I had the shoulder lane that ends 500ft down a ways.

He looks over at the L and I'm looking at the Neon to see if it had anything new from the current model. It looked to have a SRT neon front facia, with a different hood and wheels.

So the light turns green and I'm on it enough to jump out so I can move over before the lane ends and not thinking he's really going to do anything being in a prototype.....Wrong! He also jumped on it and the race was on!

I stomp on the pedal from the 1/2 throttle I was already demanding from the truck and really kicked his little cars AZZ, while giving him the by-by wave. He's got this awe chit look on his face.

He had to turn before we hit the R/R tracks and went down some industrial rd. No competition from what was under the hood! It was quick out of the hole, just not quick enough for a Lightning.

Didn't look happy about getting beat by a truck. It just made my day seeing that loosing look on that chrysler engineer....SRT back to the drawing board...lol

Ok, just had to share that AZZ wuppin!!

Your Bragging about beating a 4 Banger that you have no clue about ?

Lets just say your lucky you werent in his true class with a SVT Focus, Im sure the roles would have been quite different.

I test and tuned last weekend with a SRT4. The track was horrible I couldnt get out of the 8.7's he got down to 8.5's.He has some mods but not alot. He did have the boost cranked up to 19psi I believe. Those little cars will move , with mods atleast

Yeah, he's really lucky he wasn't on a bicycle. He'd have really gotten his butt whooped! But he wasn't, and he didn't.

BigFan,

Unless I skipped racing 101. A race is a race isn't it? He thought big enough of the engine in his test car to race a Lightning. Who cares if it was a 4 banger or some other experimental engine.

I took satisfaction in wuppin up on a DCX engineer that got his azz handed to him racing an SVT product. It wasn't some teenager with a fart pipe. I didn't take the knife to the gunfight....He did! I drive a lightning. If I wanted a SVT focus I would have bought one.

I'm well aware of what those cars a capable of if moded. Do you know what was under the hood of that test car?

Sure, I can speculate it's a 4 cyl. It had a turbo. My rear window was open and could hear it.

Incase you didn't get the memo? It's SVT VS. SRT out on the street and track.....I guess I shouldn't have raced and beat all the F-bodys and vette's too. Since I'm not in their calss! But if the neon were running more boost and mods it would have been fair?

"Run what ya brung, Is the name of the game....."

Returning from NMRA Bradenton last month I had a similar experience. Coming out of the toll booth I heard something coming out hard on my right. I didn't stop to see if they were a worthy opponent or not. I just accepted the challenge and dropped the hammer on my "L". Smoked his little 4 banger ***. Yes it was an SRT-4...Wish it had been a 10...but it wasn't. Everything is fair game coming out of toll booths

Comment most often heard after we whup their butts?

"I hung with you for the first little bit!" or "Didn't do too
bad for four cyclinders, huh?"

Yeah, right ... Our trucks are to four cyclinders the way
H-bombs are to grenades.

It absolutely rocks to drive down the road knowing that
you can take almost any car on the road.... AND your a TRUCK !!!

Nate,

I'm doing a restoration on a 1969 BOSS 429. Engine assy, suspension, powertrain restoration and detail. The guy that owns the 429 also owns a Shelby A/C Cobra replica with a 427 side-oiler in it. Black with Mystic paint for the stripes really stands out.

I'll be installing a brake kit from TCE performance on a 02 Harley next week. Then I have the ss-trim on a 67 Dodge dart and an oldsmobile to work on.

I restore and polish classic car stainless trim on the side. Just finished a 63 Plymouth Savoy, stage#1 426 max wedge. You can call that busy I guess....lol

How's the truck running? Get that issue resolved we talked about?
