6lb vs 4lb
I'm running a #4 lower / #1 upper combo. I have the JDM cat-back exhaust, no hi-flow cats or long tubes. I also have JDM's stage I & II packages along with a dual program flip chip programmed by Jim.
On my Lunar 30 series guage I read 16 lbs of boost on one of my 1/4 runs last October. Last month at Atco I was reading a consistent #15 lbs. And on the street it's pretty consistently in the 15# range at WOT. I was told that there is some deviation in these guages and that they can read high. That's just what I was told. Don't kill the messenger.
I recently had my Eaton ported and was told that without long tubes, that I'm pushing it on the stock block with my setup. I haven't had the opportunity to get any full blown WOT runs because of the weather so I can't tell you if the guage is reading any higher boost levels.
With all that said, I've had the combo (minus the ported blower) since last spring with no problems. I don't drive my truck everyday but it has seen some track time and some good WOT runs on the street.
BTW - I will have some track results with the ported eaton tonight. I'll post results tonight or tomorrow.

I run a 6lb as a daily driver with no probs and I don't get on it all the time so I'm really not even doing anything to the block untill I WOT it, with that said..my self I would only run a 4lb with a ported eaton.

what does one have to do with the other?
BTW, as for the original post. I've run 6lb lower on both trucks with no problems. if your tune is safe (safe timing and plenty of fuel) then you won't have any problems. I believe that my old red truck is still running around with the 6lower AND the 1.5 upper with no problems yet, and that was an '01 truck that had something like 12K? when I sold it a year or better ago. just get the thing on a dyno, and ALWAYS listen for detonation.
good luck.
later,
chris
