UPDATE

The glassing ontop of the dash did'nt work to well. The piece kept warping and would never lay flat. I used 2 different types of fiberglass resin and both warped on me. I am off to approach the project from another angle. I plan on removing the oval cover and laying the fiberglass inside the hole to form the base of the gauge cluster. I think this will work better and create alot less sanding as I will no longer have to worry about a perfect fitting base. It will also allow me alot more space for designing the cover and installing the gauges at the correct angle.

Time to spend another $30 on fiberglass resin and mat!

shape your model out of foam.. get it the same "oval" shape on bottom, then glass mat over it.
