my PSP purchase experience
my PSP purchase experience
edit: My apologies to everyone... it does state at one point that shipping will be added later and is not included in the total. I feel that it's somewhat misleading that when you submit the order and on the emailed receipt it shows $0 shipping but on the other hand i should have been more careful. Sal DOES have a warning up that states shipping will NOT be in the order total. Glad I posted and someone brought that to my attention.
Just thought i'd share my shopping experience cause i'm pretty pissed about this. I recently ordered a FTVB from PSP and had a shipping and handling charge slapped on after the purchase was completed. No where during the purchase process does it state that there is a shiping or handling charge and even upon checkout it says Shipping Cost: $0.00 and that is what is on my emailed receipt. This is actually one of the reasons i ordered it from PSP because the other vendors selling it did have additional charges.
The shipping and handling is only $15.35 which is $5 for handling and $10.35 for shipping. According to Sal I should have known that shipping and handling would be added later (even though at checkout it stated shipping was $0!!) or I should have called to inquire about it. Why would i call to inquire when it states $0?!?!
Now I'm sure there's going to be a bunch of people rushing to Sal's defense and he may be a fine tuner but this is one of the most amaturish internet businesses I've ever dealt with and I do a ton of shopping online. As a matter of fact this is the only one that has tried to tack on additional charges after the purchase was completed. I've dealt with plenty of companys that don't charge for shipping and i've dealt with some that can't calculate it immediately so they state that it will be added in later.
I've emailed Sal about it several times, funny...when i sent an email inquiring about the status of my order because i had heard nothing back for about 10 days I got no response till i sent a private message, but when disputing a charge he reply's pretty quickly.
Anyways Sal refuses to refund the shipping charges, he said i could return the FTVB and he would refund the price of the FTVB but not shipping. Wow, that helps alot, i didn't have any problems with the FTVB my problems are with the shipping charge.
Well I just wanted to share my experience with everyone so that people are aware of the fact that even though PSP does not state on their website or at checkout that additional charges will be added, they will be adding charges later regardless of what is says at checkout.
And no, it's not a lot of money, it's the lack of professionalism for an online store that bothers me. If he can't be upfront with people on his website maybe he needs to stick with being a local shop.

Im sorry to hear about your bad experience. Sal is in fact a good guy, and tuner. And Im sure it wasnt done intentionally to mislead you. Unfortunetly discrepancies like this are common as more people flock to dot com business. They want things to be cheap and easy but find out they could have saved themselves the hassle if they had spent the money to do it right the first time.
Lesson learned, don't believe everything you read

I would think if you have an email receipt of what your credit card was charged then that is the TOTAL change that was agreed to by you. Therefore I would contact your credit card company and take this matter up with them.
If that is what happen and you truly got an email after the fact stating the price and it did not include shipping then what ever charge was tacked on after your receipt is credit card fraud. That would be my opinion and may very well be the opinion of your credit card company as well, at least it should be since ALL charges are suppose to be known BEFORE you authorize the purchase.
NOBODY should be allowed to do business like that. Now for the record I have no idea if this is true or not because I have never purchased anything from the vendor you’re referring to but if that is how they conduct business then it is shady to say the least.
Get a hold of your credit card company and ask them how to forward a copy of the email you have (with total charges you agreed to) and tell them you want them to investigate for credit card fraud. Any charges you do NOT authorize on your card will most likely be considered fraud so I would think the minimum your credit card company would do is refund you the difference of what you authorized and what was overcharged.

Product and service that is what I shop for. If I have problems I want to call someone and talk to a human and get help and answers.
They are in buisness to make profit. The more vendors out there the more competitive the prices are going to be.
If your boss were to call you at home and spend an hour talking to you about your job wouldn't you expect to get paid for it?
These guys spend hours on the phone with us and our petty little problems. Educating us so when we get the product we aren't dissappointed with the intendid results.
The Lightnings are specialized limited production vehicles that we love and care for. We are lucky to have as many support company's helping us.
They spend an hour on the phone educating you and then you go to another vendor because he sells it for $10 less.
This is all basic economics. I bought things that were advertised as a sale price and then gotten a $5 charge for a cardboard box.
I understand your main point is that you weren't told up front but come on. Did you expect to get it shipped for free? If the shipping were free the price would go up on the product.
Of course if you were lucky enough to live close by you could spend $15 on gas and go pick it up.
I am sorry, I just don't think your gripe is well founded. I hope you get over it and have peace of mind when the brown truck comes and you bolt everything on and get that grin on your face.
But hey, it's better to vent and get it out than hold it inside and eat you up.

I just did a test order on his site
at the end of the order it states this:
NOTE: SHIPPING PRICES NOT INCLUDED IN ORDER TOTAL.
SHIPPING WILL BE ADDED TO ALL ORDERS.
These are your current items in your shopping cart.
You can alter the quantity and then click recalculate.
To delete an item, click the check box and then recalculate.
Same as it was for me each time I have ordered from him, I order from all too so not coming to his defense.

Wow, I just went though and saw the same thing, I haven't the slightest clue how i would have missed that when I bought the FTVB. However when you get to the actual checkout/total part it still shows shipping as $0 not "to be calculated". I think Sal needs to get his website updated so that when you're actually submitting your order it states that your shipping will be added later...not that it's $0. Oh well, I just wanted to make sure people realize that.
It shows your total...........and it says to be added later. Later is after the total you pay for your product.......it's pretty stright forward and involves common sense. Some people get too technical about things. Sal's right , if you had read the disclaimer on his site that says shipping is added later.......you could have called to get a total of what it would be.
I'm not knocking you, it was a simple mistake but comming on here and stirring the pot wasn't the most "no amature" thing to do. Think of it this way........the reason he.......as well as many do it this way is so the guys that live down the street aren't paying 4x what it cost to ship something out to them. Alot of places just have flat rate. Basically if you are in california, you are probably paying about doing rate. If you are in Connecticut, you are getting screwed. So Sal is in fact saving you money in the long run by doing it this way , even if you don't realize it. It sucks when you order a little brass fitting for like 8 bucks and pay 20 bucks shipping and handling , which probably cost them all of 2 bucks to ship, and i'll give them 5 bucks to handle. Think about it.
I am not a "PSP" loyalist, although i have purchased from Sal and have asked him for his advice/opinion (which most of us here value greatly) on several occasions. It's just that what's right is right. Plain and simple.
The issue has been resolved. It was a simple mistake, and I don't believe there to be any conflicts from either Jeff or myself. I have also offered to give Jeff a break on his next order just to make up for the confusion. I didn't give a refund because I don't give away free money. But the relationship with my customer is just as important, so next time I'll do a little extra for him.
BTW, what you get via e-mail, is an order confirmation, NOT a sales receipt.

Are you serious????
Trust nothing 100% on the internet.....why, some vendors are still offering their January specials! Are they rubbing it in...saying you missed the only special this year? Does the one special last all year?? Are they just waiting on next January---same special next year???
Oops! just checked...the site that was stuck on January has finally been updated! my bad!
So...another bitch.....monthly specials that never change. I know of two sites that have had the same stuff up for several months. We need new goodies!!!
