IMO, that was an awful lot of bitching for $15.00. Regardless wheter it was about the $15.00 or not, you shouldn't have assumed that shipping was free. Even if the shipping charge said zero, common sense should have stepped in and told you that all shipping companies work for a profit. In case you didn't know, FED EX and UPS are not charity run non profit organizations. To top it all off, you almost scared a few people away from PSP because of a misunderstanding on your part. I guess this is why BOLD PRINT is becoming more and more popular........because some people need everything spelled out.

Just thought I'd chime in here a little bit, too. I used to hate it when I saw I paid something like $14 shipping, but the postmark on it was like half that, I always just wrote it off as another way they get you, but something I nver realized until I started selling things is shipping is more than just the cost for the freight. First, when I sell Sal a case of FTVBs, he pays ME shipping, then, as I now know, he has to buy a box, packaging material to put in it etc... and I in turn paid someone to ship some of my parts to me, as well as a box, a plastic bag (a tranny part pretty much has to be sealed when it's shipped), labels, ACI paper, so it's not just $5 for a box you're paying on that.

My gripe with this post is simple. If you wanna play you've gotta pay. Nothing in this world is free except maybe the air you're breathing. A bottle of WATER costs over a dollar. If you own a Lightning, you know it costs to add horsepower. Imagine the costs a tuner would incur if they were to purchase boxes, packing material, etc. and give it away for free. They are here to make money, but I also think most of them are hard working and trying to help the Lightning community in general. Give them a break and fork up the extra $15 for a $200 plus part. The smile on your face after you install it will more than take care of the shipping costs.

plus if you were out of state you saved sales tax. if you went there and bought it should be about $16.00 sales tax on $200.00. +it was delivered to your door. i sell stuff on ebay and charge about that much also to package and ship stuff. there is a lot of time in making sure everthing is right. just my opinion.

So are you discounting the fact that Sal is a tuner and
not a web site developer? Did it cross you mind that MAYBE
the site is outsourced, and the software isn't linked to
the Postal Service shipping charges site? Or maybe THAT
costs money?

I would prefer Sal keep the prices low and competitive and
rely on people being able to READ, rather than to jack all the
prices up to cover "Nice to haves".

Most everything I ever ordered from PSP arrived USPS Express
mail very reasonable. My chips were like $5.00 to ship and
they are always packed to perfection.

Final word? If you want "professional" websites, stick to
Amazon.com (Which does charge shipping, BTW), and if you
want the best Go-Fast parts in the business, then use Sal.

You fit into the mold of people that want the LOWEST possible
price and this results in the WalMart experience. The destruction
of Mom and Pop businesses across the U.S. Then they b i t c h
when their job is out-sourced to China !!!

That statement right there just shows how this country is becoming, pay me pay me pay me pay me. People are loosing jobs left and right and sometimes you have to do a little extra for your company just cause its the right thing to do. They reward you with bonuses when times are good, so whats an hour once and awhile to help out your boss.

RT, not all of us work for our dad where profits are shared when times are good. In large corporations - the ones that keep laying off people - it doesn't matter if the times are good or bad. Good times are good for the shareholders, bad times are bad for the worker....... but I guess this has nothing to do with PSP.

The reason people are this way is because most companies dont give a rats A$$ about their employees anymore.

Maybe its cause you guys arn't good employee's?

My old man gives out bonuses to all our employee's for performing above and beyond there expectations and when we have a good year. Even out laborers out of the union get bonuses so maybe you guys just need a different job

Pretty much everyone I know gets treated the same way with other companys so uhmm yes I do think its the normal. And I deal with people who work for HUGE corporations all the time (alcoa aluminum, household financial, solo cup company, ford, chevy...............) and they all have the same experiences.

P.S. I'm not even close to being the highest paid employee in my company and its practically mine anyway so don't even start with the daddy BS cause my dad's not a dad at work, LOL

this thread may have gotten slightly off track.

but anyway, I have ordered plenty of stuff from PSP.

I too saw the $0.00 on the e-mail invoice, but I knew that shipping wasn't free.

like others have said, shipping/packaging/handling etc adds up.

as for RTKILLA, who cares if he works for his dad or not. if he was receiving special treatment or bonuses for being family, then he would be missing the point with his statement.

according to him though, all of the employees get the same treatment. and that's great too.

BUT...

RT, I don't and never have worked for a "major corporation".

I have worked for 3 good sized ford dealerships though. and when times are good, I have to work harder/faster to get my "bonus", and I say bonus loosely, there is no "bonus". I just take home bigger checks when business is good because there's more work to do. since I get paid on commission, more work equals more money IF I bust *** to produce more.

in reality there is no bonus. the company keeps the profits when times are good. the employee gets the same old paycheck unless they work harder.

that's fine too, that's why the owner opened the business to make HIMSELF money. I just wanted to point out that not everybody gets these wonderful "bonuses" when things are going well.

if we don't have any customers bring their cars in the door when it's slow, and I may work a 50+ hour week and only get paid for 30hours of labor. if I work a 50+ hour week and get paid for 80hours of labor when times are good, that's certainly not a "BONUS". it just makes me break even for the slow times. i'm not boo hooing or asking for sympathy, I'm just saying that it doesn't work out for everyone like it does for you at your job.

so yes, PAY ME PAY ME PAY ME!

as for the original poster. you should have known there would be shipping. as you've since noticed, it was posted in writing. so sal's website isn't perfect.

he's a small business owner who I assume until recently (and maybe still is) works out of his home.

two employees or whatever.

hell, even summit charges like $10 for handling IN ADDITION to shipping charges now, no matter if you are buying 1 valve stem cap, or 5 sets of connecting rods.

they are a heckuva lot bigger than sal.

so while I understand your gripe...

it's $15 bucks or whatever that you should have known about, it's not like he charged you $15 for something you didn't get. you paid for the service and parts provided. so, not trying to be harsh or personal, get over it. he's done countless hours of work for free, don't whine about paying for a little shipping.

just my .02

later,
chris
