Since I don't drive much anymore. Just once a year.

BTW: The navigator filter is about twice the size.

I used to change mine every other oil change, but after spilling gas in my eye one to many times I started cutting the filter open to see if it actually was getting dirty, or clogged. I cut open two and they both looked brand new, no signs of debris or dirt. I guess it depends on where you live and where you get gas, I usually get gas at the same station and it seems to be clean so I'm going to change it every 6 months or so, or seeing that I just drive it in the summer months, once a summer.

Every 3K with every oil change
Especially after this happen

Because the filter looked like this by 5k original new miles on the
truck

I'm sure it was bad gas, but I won't let it go over 3K anymore
next time it may not ONLY be the plugs that fail

Yo Rob,
Did those plugs break in the truck? If so how did you get the metal out of the cyclinder?

Someone give me a quick class on replacing the fuel filter. I figure I might as well do it tonight. Tools, prefered brand, blah.

THanks,
Jon

you just need a 5/16" fuel line removal tool. i got mine at pep boys for $5. the filter is on the driver's side frame rail under the cab. it is hard to miss if you look. i released the pressure from the line at the fuel rail schrader valve. i wadded up 2 shop towels and pressed down on the valve with a small allen wrench and the towels sopped up all the gas, didn't spill a drop. then disconnect the forward part of the filter using the tool, the back you have to take off the clip, then it pulls right out. make sure it is not directly over your face because it will spill some gas when you remove it. i just shoved some more shop towels on the end of it to soak up the gas. pop the new one in, and your done.

p.s. oh yeah, i change every 15K
