Use my 2000L as a daily driver. I got a new motor, trans, computer, and cats at about 45,000 (blew spark plug). I now have 55,000 miles. I would highly recommend the 100,000 mile extended warranty. It has saved me about $10,000 so far.

I drive mine everyday, its an 01 with 22k on it. I need to get my first baby running again 65 elco. I cant stand putting miles on my lightning. I have never done a burnout in the lightning, because of the elcamino. I whipped so many doghnuts in the elcamino and was such a speed freak that one day it said no more. Now im accummulating all my parts to fix her back up. I have most of them (rearend, power steering gearbox, transmission, upper and lower control arms, center link, polygraphite bushings, brake lines, and body sheetmetal). Ok I sure dont want this to be my lightnings future.

This is better than having a Baby, if it acts all weird or something breaks, you just whip out the credit card and pay someone to modify it to JUST LIKE YOU WANT IT
of course You all know I kid about comparing it to a baby RIGHT ?
a baby could never out run a Hemi
Definately before summer... I could go get one now, but I'm waiting for the other house my father owns to sell because he'll buy it and I get an interest free loan.
Still deciding if I want another black truck... Black is such a b!tch to keep clean... Hmmm...

I hear you Leeann
If I had to do it over, although I believe Black Looks the best,
shines the best, AND OF COURSE IS THE FASTEST,
there is no doubt it shows the most, it's the hardest to keep
clean, and it becomes one big swirl mark no matter what you do.

You could Be like Gator and get the Lazy Color --> Silver,
schitt, you can prob get away with washing it once or twice a
year

My choice would be Blue or Red today

I CANT WAIT, my Sisters having another Lightning

From: Colorado,
If I had a white collar job where I was clean at the end of my day and I had indoor parking. I would definitly drive my L every day.

I used to work in a downtown highrise where they furnished us a uniform and we had a 16 level indoor garage to park. That would be nice but those days are gone.

You could throw a towel on the seat or change cloths but that isn't practical to me.

Now I sneak home the company truck untill they catch me.

Clean wise I think White is the easiest. Any dark color looks great but Black realy stands out when it is clean. Unfortunaltly the slightest door ding or anything else does to.

As far as a daily ride and longevity. It all depends on how deep your pockets are. I hope to drive mine for a long time if I can keep myself from the heavy mods.
In stock form it should last as long as anything out there.

Black is not that bad of a color unless you use Turtle Wax for the finish…

Mine is not a daily driver. I bought a beater for work and back, stores (dingland). Once the weather is better and this 200 yard dirt road I live down dries up so its not a FREAKING mud pit I will drive the L more often, few times to work now and then and then cruising around…

Red is the only color I won't get. Hey if I get black, we'll have twins... ...except mine won't be bottle fed.

I drive my everyday that I can during the summer months. I will not drive it in the winter, I drive my S/crew w/ 4 wheel drive in the Alaskan winters.

I work in outside sales and my drive upwards of a 100 plus miles a day to see customers. The truck is comfortable and so much fun to drive. I will be parking my S/crew in the next couple of weeks and drive the L only.

If your worried about gas prices by a SVT Focus that would be a fun driver that saves on gas.

Beginning to wonder - why not enjoy the L on a daily basis especially after all the work and money I have gone through to make her a true beast.

Question: Who is driving their L on a daily basis? and given both options which would you pick - L as a daily or have a seond vehicle as a daily?

Thanks for your opinions!

D-Day

My black beauty is now a work truck, but not by choice. I've always been **** about where I park, working in the French Quarter leaves me with few options. I love driving the truck daily,
just hate putting her at risk. Gas milage is about the same as my old 98 F-150, 300 miles per 21 gallons. 93 octane runs $1.71 per gallon average so cost is hard on the paycheck.
