Unhappy My 2000 L won't start

2 weeks ago my lightning would crank but wouldn't start. After changing the fuel filter it still wouldn't start. I then read on this site to clean the idle air valve. After doing so and reinstalling it my L, it fired right up and I drove it without any problems for a week. Saturday morning, I had the same problem all over again. I took the valve off again and cleaned it. I reinstalled this time but with no luck. Checked for codes through the dash trip odometer and it gave me DTC9202 (fuel sender open circuit). Also found somewhere else where Dtc9202 correlates with onboard II code B1202. Can anyone tell me what, if anything, these codes may mean. I checked the fuses and they appear to be OK. Any help with this will be appeciated.

If you haven’t tried resetting your computer I would at least try it. The fact that it responded to the IAC being cleaned, and then failed later on, may mean that the unit itself has gone bad... wont be the first time it has happened to someone.

Maybe someone who has had this happen will chime in... I had IAC problems with my last truck (99 xlt) ..but cleaning it cured the problem... I think I also had changed the fuel filter.

I reset my computer. My truck still won't start. I don't hear the fuel pump coming on and I am getting just a small amount of gas coming out of the schrader valve on the fuel rail. Does that mean the fuel pump(s) are bad or could it be the pcm or something else? Again I have checked the fuses, the relays and the inertia fuel cutoff switch. Help me, I'm getting ready to send it to the dealer to let them fix it. Ryan

Do you have a chip in it? Just asking cause if you do, the contacts may be dirty and not making good contact between the chip and computer. I have had this happen to me on a couple of occasions and i have a couple of friends this has also happened to. My symptoms were the motor turning over but not cranking up. Sounds just like what you are seeing. If you do have a chip in it, take the computer back out and clean the contacts off and then re-install the computer and chip. Its solved my problem 2 times in the past. Hope this solves the problem.

behind the passanger side kick panel there is a fuel shut off valve. This valve has a push button on it see if it needs to be reset. If it pushes down and locks in you have just reset it.

Hope this helps you, I have a 2000 L also.

Peace, Suavy

Justin, No I do not have a chip in it. The only mod I've done on it is a K&N air filter. Suavy, Not only did I try to reset the fuel switch, a friend of mine gave me a new one to swap out. That didn't seem to do the trick. Thanks, Ryan

I got my lightning to start by spraying some starting fluid into the air filter box. I hit the key and it started right up. I drove it for a couple of days and it fired right up every time until it got cold outside (40 degrees). Then it wouldn't even start with the starting fluid. After it warmed up outside to the mid 50's, I gave it a shot of starting fluid and it has started up every time all day long. What could my problem be?

long shot here.

could your MAF sensor be dirty or covered in oil?
Use BRAKE CLEANER to clean it.
(don't use Carb cleaner, it leaves an oil residue, exactly what you DON"T want)
