Thumbs up For the Married guys.

I found a sweet 04 L and I'm trying to convince my wife to let me get it. She has no problem with me getting a L, but she was thinking in a year or so. I want this one real bad. Wondering if any of you guys had to do any convincing and how did you do it? Thanks.

Not married, but I'll try to help. Tell her its the last year for the lightning until 2006, when it will be about 10K more. Hope that helps. (thats the excuse I used to myself when buying mine. LOL)

Here is how to do it…

Tell her you’re the man and this is what you want so this is what you’re going to get. Then tell her to get her butt back in the kitchen and cook your damn dinner…

If that don’t work LurchNC makes an excellent point about the price of the new ones being more then the current ones. Now, there could even be some big mark-ups on the new ones as well that may put them way out of the ball park depending on what kind of money you two make…

If neither one of those work then GET ON YOUR KNEES and beg like a ****…

I wouldn't mind a used one, but I won't buy one with lots of miles and most of those are nearly as high as a new one. Besides, I have been hanging around in here too long to trust a used one.

Not sure, but I don't think that will work Dan.

I might need you guys to fabricate a thread about Ford not making the L until 06 in which case they will cost an insane ammount of money.

Well, the '06 will have bucket seats...two passengers only. (You can swap in the console later)

The first year of a new model typically has problems. The heritage models have most of the bugs worked out already.

The '06 will be bigger and heavier, and likely get less gas mileage. The difference in gas and insurance will eat up the difference in payments.

Interest rates will be going up shortly, so that bigger down
payment may be necessary just to get the same payments.

The payments seem to get smaller each year due to inflation.

Some say the big truck and SUV trend has peaked, and that large fuel hungry vehicles are on the way out. If you buy the '06 L, you may be stuck with a vehicle with no resale value.

That should give you a good start...remember, for best sucess, all of these arguments should be presented with a straight face...giggling and grinning may give you away!
