If you go from point A to point B is the least time, then you're the "fastest," IMO.

 

Here is the meaning of fast or faster.

Fast

If Dale and Sal took off at the same time Dale would have reached the finish line faster that Sal. Sal would have had a higher MPH when crossing the finish line. A higher MPH is pretty much meaningless when the ET is all that counts at the end of the day.

I hope this puts this faster BULL***** to bed.

 

In drag racing there's always been two separate terms: Quickest and Fastest. These are not just terms to quibble over, but are actual goals and records. You can go back and find who was the first person to break 200, 250, 300 mph just the same as who was quickest. You are only showing your ignorance by acting like these aren't two vital measures of performance. Your opinions do not matter, it's what's in the rulebooks and record books that has merit and drives competition.

Whoever hold each of these records is worthy of our respect, and you shouldn't try to belittle anyone's accomplishments, especially if you don't have what it takes to compete at that level.

Congratulations to Dale and Sal, our current record holders, and to all the others who have raised the bar to where it is today.

 

I stand corrected Locosvt as far as the NHRA records go. The point I was making is the fastest ET takes home the trophy and the money no matter what level you compete.

I quess I've heard that back and forth bickering about this so much that I was looking for an end to it. The dictionary says quick and fast are pretty much the same thing. I beat guys with faster MPH all the time. You should be use to that yourself driving a truck going up against cars that are more aerodynamic. When the light is going off on the board in my lane I never see the guy in the other lane get excited when he looks at his timeslip because he turned a higher MPH. It's still a loss.

Even the NHRA has to say (Quickest ET) and (Fastest Top Speed) to make it correct. Quick and Fast by themselves means basically the same thing. Quick is a Synonym for Fast.

I'm sorry if I trampled on the record book.

 

Ok, so Dale has the quickest and I have the fastest. Together, we'll have to tag team the competition .

Although quick and fast are synonyms, I think alot of people refer to quick as getting from point A to point B, usually shorter distances. Fast generally refers to a "top end utilizing an infinite distance"...sort of like land speed records, etc...

 

Sheesh, I guess I canl settle for "quickest" and not "fastest" They are just words, no biggy..
