---------------I have had enough-------------

As you all know my 03 Lightning has been a basket case. I have come to the end of my rope with vacumn leaks, Blown transmissions, 3 in dash cd changers, Overheating, Waterpumps, and a thousand and one other things. It all ended today.

I have badgering the dealer to talk to the ford rep to do something about this as he is very fimiliar with my truck and the ongoing problems there of. Much to my suprise the service manager whom is supposto take care of talking to the ford rep never did and when I would phone and ask on getting trade assistance (lemon law in U.S) he would reply with ford is not going for it.Fine, I took matters into my own hands and hunted down the rep and we had a discussion, luckily he was at his desk. I gave him the VIN Number of my truck and we discussed each and every claim.

The end result being Ford Motor Company is buying my Lightning back on the CONDITION that I stay with the Ford Lincoln line. I agreed.

I looked into when my lightning was built, March 27 2003 percisely the day before a long weekend (in canada), these trucks are built in Canada, Therefore you can say it was a Friday truck eventhough the 27 was a thursday. I don't hold grudges against Ford or it's dealers and I still love the Lightning. For my next vehicle I have picked out a 04 DSG Lightning it is in the Calgary holding yard right now. There is a problem here though, Maybe I have a obsession with Lightnings; there a perfect vehicle for me, I have a very bad back and I get in and out with great ease no problem at all. On the flip side I have had 4 supercrew King Ranches, a great truck but it was a effort for me to get in and out because of the stepping up and the big bolster in the seat. I' am still considering a F-350 Crew Cab Long box King Ranch with the 6.0L diesel, The problem is I sold my last house because it had alot of steps and it was just simpley to big and fancy for me. I just recently purchased a block of 6 new condos, I live in one and the others are rental propertys. Not a good Idea to smoke out my tennants on a cold winter morning is it. So I think I'am going to let the idea of a diesel go.

I need your opinion on what to get next. Maybe I'am completely out to lunch on getting another lightning, Just another sucker for punishment, Afterall I'am 27 turning 28 in March I'am getting a little to old to drive a Lightning Maybe a Lincoln Navigator or the King Ranch or a Lariat supercrew is the way to go. Lightnings I'am starting to think are for 17-26 year olds. Perhaps I'am wrong and need clueing in.

Come on 28 is just a spring pup

I am 43 going on 21, and I wouldn't drive anything else but a Lightning.

It is to bad about your truck and every vehical will have a few lemons, but if you look at the big picture Lightnings are a very trouble free vehical.

Go for the Lightning and be happy my brother.

this forum is so funny...Man 27-28 aint sh*t that is in no way to old for a lightning. I'm 24 almost 25 and I have never felt of the L being a young person's truck...stick with it, I'm sure that truck had to be a bad apple.

If you indeed have a bad back, no matter what age you might be............
For my daily driver I would look for something that is really easy to get in and out of, and drives like its floating on a cloud.

I love my Lightning and plan on keeping it for a while, but a comfortable daily driver it is not.

There are many many better choices for a comfortable daily driver and road trip vehicle.

Buy a nice comfortable 4 door car with air ride suspension for daily wheels, and keep a Lightning in the garage for the days when the horsepower bug is calling out for you.

Pat,

I'm glad you've worked things out with Ford; but, where did you get the idea that a vehicle with a S/C V-8 should be associated with drivers under the age of 27. If anything, you've got it backward. That is more the domain of the 'Fast And Furious' four banger movement. I would say that most of the guys that can afford these trucks, without living at home with mom and pop, are over the age of 25.

Hey, Marc

that was me. I just don't want to scare you in front of the salesman when you were asking how the truck was. How has your truck been?

I have given it lots of thought over lots of and lots of friends.
Our Survey Says!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-Get the 04 DSG

PatrickPDX,

Like you say maybe get a car, Theres one problem. It bothers me to get up out of low places. I like slide in and slide out vehicles. I had a 01 Lariat F-150 and that 2wd and that was a easy truck for me to get in and out of.
