I ran a 215-60x15 tire on a 8" rim as a ghetto skinny.. no problems at all.

Even used old used tires, too

Either of those look ok.. Here are some old pics from 2001 with the 215's up front and 26x11.50's on the back...

Ya 215's are a good choice

I run 225/70HR16 Continental 4x4 Contacts which have a overall diameter of 28.4 inches and a max load of 1874 lbs

They are the closest to the stock F1's overall diameter and load rating.

There are two advantages to these tires
1) you can drive as many miles as you want with these tires since they are the same overall diameter as the stock F1's and having a high load rating. I have driven the 300 miles and back from Mass to NJ quite a few times with them on the front. Most of the 215 -60 or 215-70 tires have a much lower load rating so you wouldn't want to drive as far with those tires. So you can put the tires on before you go to the track, and not have to worry about leaving them on for a day or two.

2) Especially since I run 30 inch tall slicks they are still fairlly close to the Overall diameter as the slicks. A 215-60 or 215-70 will only be about 26 inch overall diameter and be just to short for my slicks.

Actually since these are not as wide they are better on the highway. The truck tracks straighter and doesn't wonder at all.
