L.A. Times, 2/4/03: 14.2@99 at Palmdale. Writer seems like an amatuer. Writer claims that with more practice he could get into the 13's.

But that makes no sense, as the 99 trap speed is entirely consistent with a 14 sec run. And trap speed is relatively independent of driver skill.

Now I hate giving the trash-every-other-truck crowd any further ammo, but you did ask for data points.

its running mid 13's with a good driver best i've seen. I don't think anyone has pushed it into the 12's stock, but it may happen.

99MPH seems like a mid-high 13sec, as evidenced by the stock Gen2s.

My slow Gen1 runs 14.4 @ 94. Them running a 14.2 @ 99 just does not sound like a normal run. I've seen results from 12.9@106 to 13.1@109, and a owner running 13.5@105 after just getting it.

"Ford's bold vision for a third-generation SVT F-150 Lightning sport truck emerged today from a powerful new-product cloudburst at the 2003 North American International Auto Show
The SVT F-150 Lightning concept features a six-speed manual transmission, independent rear suspension and a 500-horsepower supercharged V-8. It is a powerful combination aimed at extending SVT Lightning's supremacy into the future.
Coletti's team fit the SVT Lightning with an all-aluminum, 5.4-liter DOHC supercharged and intercooled V-8 engine conservatively rated at 500 horsepower and 500 foot pounds of torque (SAE net)."

"We'll get right to the heart of the matter. Under that twin-scooped hood sits a supercharged 5.4-liter V8 that's rated "conservatively" at 500 horses and 500 lb-ft of twist. The intercooler can use the vehicle's air conditioning system (on demand) to cool the intake charge even more, resulting in 50 more horsepower for a 30- to 45-second burst. Although it's not the same exact engine, the force-fed 5.4 in the Lightning does share many components with the GT40's V8."

Picture of the 500 hp engine...

Maybe Guiness could add an entry for stock 1/4 mile times for a stocker '04 L v. '04 SRT-10 with "professional" drivers in each?

I did a quick search on the SRT-10 1/4 mile time and haven't found anything yet. Anyone have any 1/4 times on the SRT-10 ?
Here's an opinion from a guy who just bought an SRT-10 and is selling it to his friend. Picked this up off another board I'm on.

Wasn't the 12.9 @ 106 the very preliminary numbers from Dodge (which they changed to 13.x @ like 104)?

If not, I'm sure people would be interested in more info on this...

Wow! I was waiting to see what SW's opinion would be of the truck. Looks like he got a 1/4 time of 13.15@108.7. I honestly don't think they'll get much better then that. If anyone can drive, SW can.
