Exclamation transmission problems?

Hey guys. I wasdriving down the interstate today and noticed my O/D lightwas blinking on and off. I pulled over at a gas station it wouldn't downshift out of 4th gear. Checked my fluid and it was full and clean. It really hates shifting. I had to manully put it in first wich felt like second and it's hesitant about shifting. When it does shift i think it goes strght to fourth. Realy rough going from Reverse to Drive and , ofcourse, pretty sure it goes to 4th. Could this be a clutch problem and how much am i looking at for the job of new clutches from a shop instead of dealership?

thanx

Question WISH I COULD HELP BUT HAVE QUESTION???

Mabey someone out there can help you the way it sounds you did not have factory tech valve body installed. i do not know the horsepower you were putting out and how many miles you have on your lightning. i wish you luck on getting it fixed the r4100 transmissions can run any where form $1500.00 and up to $2500.00 repairs are less????

Sounds to me like you have no voltage at the trans. The first thing I would check is the 15 amp fuse in the front of the "underhood relay center".

If it is blown, I would look closely at the wires for the O2 sensors.

Check the HEGO/Transmission fuse under the hood....when it blows it sends a signal, the O/D light blinks, and the truck gets locked in 3rd.

Give it a shot, could be simple

WhiteTrash and WaveBlaster,

You guys were right, thanx for the help and being good community helpers! Sure enough that fuse is gone.

Now to fix this i simply replace the fuse correct? Do i have to get these fuses from ford?ORR can i get it from auto zone or something?

Check the wires for the O2 sensors. Sometimes they can rub against the heat shields after a catback install or any exhaust work. That is, If the shields were tweaked during the install.

The fuses are just 15 amp mini's available anywhere.

Mine was the 02 Sensors as well. When you replace it, it will fix the problem if it was only the fuse, but if something is causing it to trip then you will need to find it....and most likely it is the 02's like Jim said.

If you have a cat-back check the rears, I wouldn't think it would be the fronts unless maybe you have headers or something of that nature, that's how mine went, header burnt through the wire.

Hopefully it was just a fluke that it blew....

man...ok ..I understand now. Cause the heatshield on my right cat (have 2 hi flows) has come lose. Just was holding out on getting under there and knocking it off. That has to be it cause i replaced the fuse 2 times and it blew one after the other..

The heat shield I was refering to was the insulated one above the exhaust system. These sometimes rub through the wires and cause them to come in contact with a ground and short out. I don't have a camera here otherwise I could take some pics of a bad one from my truck.

Look at the wires on the front O2's. Maybe when the exhaust work was done they moved the plastic tabs for the harness and they forgot to put them back.

Hope that helps a little more.

-Jim
