New Mod Sucks!!

Got a call from my boss last night at 11:45 pm saying they needed me at work in the morning. A production machine for a hot job was down. I knew an ice storm was in the forecast but when I left the house at 7am this morning it didn't seem that bad. On my way in on the highway ice started forming at the top of the windshield working its way into my view. Wipers wouldn't keep up. This sucks! Parking lot at work was a sheet of ice and the weather was only getting worse. Turns out they didn't even need me at work but I stuck around for about an hour anyway to make sure the machine was going to run. On my way back home the highway had gotten pretty bad in just about an hours time. Kept my speed around 35mph. Not slow enough when you hit some ice. Truck started sliding toward the suv to the right of me. I managed to steer clear of him but kept sliding through the fast lane with the rear end swinging around. Needless to say, concrete medians are not forgiving.

That sucks! St. Louis' weather made national news today with the "ice accumulation". You would have had a hard time driving in that stuff in anything short of a tank.

Hope the repairs don't set your real mod budget back too far!

I think work should pay my deductable. 4 hours show up pay is not going to cut it. If it were not for them I would not have even attepted driving today. I was more concerned with the machine that was down as the customer whose parts it makes is ready to pull all of their work out of our shop if we don't get our ***** together. That's 1/3 of our business. Doors would close.

What do you think?

Your the one that is responsible for your driving. I think it totally sucks what happen to your L. I have the same color..Looks like at least a few thousand dollars...You can at least try to get them to pay your deductable. You are also aware of the tire sticker in the doorjam?.... I feel your pain but think your going to have to bear most of the costs....sorry...

I think that would be a fair request considering you wouldn't be out in that weather unless called in in an emergency.

They may say if they do it for you than they'll have to do it for everybody, but it's worth a try.

Not to mention yesterday when I went out to data log with the predator and got a ticket. "They say the Lightning is fast....does that logger tell you how fast you were going?" says officer ********. "He got you with laser doing 84mph and that was when you were slowing down after your run." Never saw who got me. This cop was waiting for me up ahead. He cut me a break though and only wrote the ticket for 79mph in a 60 avoiding a court appearance. I feel lucky now

2004 not starting off to well.

Yea, I had mod plans for my tax return but these are some definate setbacks.

Yes I agree, I am responsible for my driving. I made the choice to go into work. They made the choice of not calling to say they did not need me knowing what the forcast was. A couple of months ago the maintenance crew was gathered for a meeting where they told us how important it was to respond to emergency calls when related to this particular job/customer. No big deal. I'm sure the money will come out of my pocket. I just thought I had a pretty good argument and it was worth a shot.

It's always easier if you have someone else to blame. Maybe I'll go after the road crews.

Way to go!

I don't think your work is responsible for your truck. Sorry.

That storm is hitting us now. They say we will get about 6 in. of snow.

The last time we got snow, it was only about 2 in. I was the only one to make it to work on time. I beat 4 4X4 trucks and 1 Cad STS.

Sorry, but that is plain dumb. Not only a risk to yourself and cop, but also public...gives rest of L drivers a bad name

Sucks about your truck. Good luck in getting it fixed RIGHT!
