outta curiousity how do u know what they were looking for?
and ive ran too in my truck, got outta that one, tried it again on my 2001 honda f4i and eventually ended up w/ a wrecked bike 4,000 of medical bills, 2,000 of lawyer bills, faced over 40 points and thousands of dollars of fines. Needless to say itll never happen again. luckily enough i got out of all the citations for some unknown reason, needless to say my driving habits have changed. Later...

I bet the damage is more than the front bumper. Your alignment could be out of whack or worse.

Alignment definately out I would think. Steering wheel sits about 45* cw of center now.

Yes I am glad no one was hurt and no other vehicles were involved. Amazing how fast 30-35 mph seems when you have no control. I was having no problems at this speed up til this point.

I can't help thinking that I wouldn't have been out in the crap if it were not for work. Had it been during the normal work week I would have taken a vacation day knowing someone else was there to take care of the problem.

St. Louis does not normally get hammered in the winter months. Sometimes it's worse than others but overall usually drivable, even in the L. This is why I never invested in winter tires, not that they would help in ice but I may have to rethink that one.

I'm sure all will be well as long as it's fixed right. All ready thinking of trading her in though. See if I can get a good deal on an '03. I was thinking about this before the accident.

Thanks for your condolences all

JJ

I just paid $600 under Xplan for a 2003 at Dave Sinclair Ford. Add to that $1000 rebate and the $500 autoshow rebate and the total was $27800...

There are a lot of 03's around the St Louis area, but I think I got Dave Sinclair's last one.

Driving in Snow & Ice

Here in Richmond, Va we got our share of snow & Ice for this storm. Driving with the stock Lightning tires in snow is not advisiable, there is a sticker on the door post advising not to do it.

I followed SVT's advice and for winter driving I changed to Expediton 17 inch wheels and snow tires, not saying that this would have helped in the St Louis situation. But so far it has worked for me for 3 winters.

I lived in St Louis area for 10 years, I understand how nasty the snow & ice can be there. One of the reasons I am not there.

Marty

JJ, sorry to hear of your misfortune!

Hey I live in Michigan and drive my truck year round. Though nothing is full proff when your on ice. I have found a way to drive my L year round. I put a set of expidition wheels and tires on my truck and put my factory rims and tires in the bed. They work great and are about 1/2 the thickness of my factory wheels.

Peace, suavy

Dropped her off at the dealer body shop today. Hope to have her back in possesion by the end of next week but I'm sure they'll find some things that are not on the estimate that will delay that. Also having them take care of the infamous 97-00 door crack that I just noticed and read about. Was this ever addressed in the 01-04 models?

Something else I noticed driving around the past couple days is that my exhaust lost its cackle (the cool sound it made around 60mph and above when coasting). It was there before the accident and now it's gone. What could have happened? The system is a full Bassani w/ceramic shorties self installed 8/03.

Ended up talking to a salesman while waiting for my girlfriend to pick me up. Before you know it I had him checking around for dsg 03's. He found 1 about 130 miles away. Bottom line - 2000L 46000 miles been wrecked = $14000 trade in, 2003 = $30800. Was hoping to do better on both ends. Granted I could have brand new with same payment but I was looking to lower my payment. Think he'll call me with a better offer? Me either since the truck isn't sittin on his lot. I WANT THE DEAL ST. LOUIS L GOT!! Lucky bastard.

Go here http://www.varietystl.com/variety_performers.htm

Pay $100 and get Xplan, plus you are helping out the kids..

That gets you to $29700. $1000 rebate available on 03's. So now you are at $28700. You can work another 1000-1500 on that trade I bet. Are you dead set on DSG? Paul Ceneri (probably spelled that wrong) had a black, red, and blue 03 on the lot.
