Predator pay $360 or $419.00

Well, my feeling is you get what you pay for! Personally, I know what my $ investment in my L is and I will not knowingly place that L at risk. I know a poor tune / questionable tune can mean disaster. I personally would (and did) pay the $419 rather then the $360 to the vendor with all the freebees. I paid the $419 to a tuner that has been known around here for quite some time. A Lightning tuner that is known for his knowledge and abilities. A tuner that can be trusted! "TRUST" is a key word here. Anyway, I went with Sal at PSP. As I expected Sal was quick to ship the Predator . There were a host of questions from me after I received the Predator. Sal returned my phone calls at his expense and returned my emails and continues to do so. He was quick to get a custom tune to me. By the way, a big surprise was that Sal (PSP) also included the power supply for the Predator I thought I would have to buy at Radio Shack for $14.00. . Also sent was the serial cable for home computer to Predator communication that would have cost me a few $. (PSP is the only vendor doing this)

Will close by saying why would anyone even consider going with a bargain basement price knowing that they might very well be getting a bargain basement tune for their pricey, beloved L. I'm sure there are those that are $ foolish but what a gamble to take. Not a gamble I took!

Re: Predator pay $360 or $419.00

I forgot to mention this in my first post... I made this post as someone ? why I would pay $419 when I could get the Predator for less.. I wanted to start by saying the following..

A few months ago I was very verbal in regard to the Predator. I was so verbal/had so many questions that RTWD a vendor over at the NLOC board complained to Dwight the owner of NLOC that I was picking on him so to speak. Subsequently, Dwight banned me from NLOC and I am still banned..

Over the last few weeks Predators have been on eBAY for $349 or
so. Nick at Diablo Sport stated publically that Diablo Sport would
not honor warranty claims on units that were bought on eBAY. Then there was talk about Predator vendors were standing solidly together on a $419.00 price and that lower prices for the Predator were from those that were offering poor service, "questionable CUSTOM tunes" and possibly non warranted predators.. RTWD a vendor was very verbal on this matter and adamant that with low ball prices came problems..

Update.. two days ago or so RTWD drops his prices to $360 with
complimentary free tunes and free shipping...
Geeeez, that is great or is it?

billart,

Not debating about supporting the tuners, but is there an issue with RWTD and what they offer?

I for one would welcome the lower price, unless you know for a fact that they do not deliver the quality, or an integrity issue is in question..

Could you elobrate on your issue with this particular vendor (or any other vendors that are not considered top tuners), and why we should not consider any purchases?

Just wondering because I would like to know who is supposedly approved, and who is not, and what is the approving guidelines are...

Not trying to be a smarta$$. I really would like to know before I spend my $$$.

RWTD """""is""""" more than an approved vendor
James has been tunning Diablo for more years than most of
our tuners. He's an excellent tuner and happens to be Diablo's
number one Distributer (or at least was a small time ago).
He tuned my truck for a good year or so, got me a 12.8 on F-1's
with an open filter single chip and 4lb pulley, using pump gas in the summer time, SO HE WILL ALWAYS HAVE MY RESPECT.
There were NO OTHER MODS on my truck at the time, no bars,
no slicks, no T/B, no shackles, "NOTHING" and to date it's still
my fastest MPH 12.8 ever @106.47 (and that was with a 1.9 60ft)
I cut 1.6's now everytime on my Hoosiers

JP's only prob is my problem, we say whats on our mind, we don't
sugar coat things, and we don't kiss a$$. He was banned from here and prob a few other places because he's called out many people AND TUNERS on lies and B/S over the years.

He also has been a HUGE Corvette tuner for many years and
has shifted most of his focus over to the Chevy Boys now.
But he is still a great source to get a predator from, (for your L)
and he can give a custom tune just like any OTHER GREAT TUNER.

I know James at RWTD very well. We talk on a daily basis, and he sends many Lightning customers to me for tuning (thanks James!). James works hard and is a great guy. I know that Bill has had his issues with James, and it's expected that now and then you run into customers that just don't get along with certain vendors; I've had my share as well. I can tell you that James felt backed into a wall about the Predator pricing, and dropped his prices down to match the price whoring vendors out of desperation, because it seemed that there was not going to be any enforcement of the pricing by Diablo. Since he dropped his prices, he, and many other Diablo dealers have discussed this with Diablo, and there will be action taken, although I do not know at this time exactly what it is. Since then, James has readjusted his pricing back to the original manufacturer required level.

And to Bill, I thank you for your support in dealing with PSP for your Predator purchase, and tuning needs. You can now experiance first hand, just exaclty WHY there is a difference between a tuner who's been using real tuning software for over 8 years, and vendors who call themselves tuners because they just bought tuning software two months ago .

I do not want a guy that is a jack of all tunes and a MASTER of none

Just to clarify my earlier posts...

At no time did I question RTWD's ability to do tunes or his credibility! Actually, I do not have a clue as to his tuning abilities or his character. I can tell you that he and I have emailed back and forth in regard to the Predator over the last few months and he has always been pleasant, helpful and has had that Southern nice guy way about him.

As for me I chose Sal as he has a track record both as a Lightning tuner and a Lightning Racer. Another point is Sal has posted literally thousands and thousands of posts here and on NLOC which I believed he was founder of. Sal has helped many a Lightning owner and not just when it mean't the sale of a Predator. He has never posted sales bullchittt in regard to the Predator in order to MAKE SALES.

I want a tuner that is pretty much 100% Lightning and zeroed in on it (the LIGHTNING) so to speak.

I do not want a guy that is a jack of all tunes and a MASTER of none!

Sal in my book is a MASTER LIGHTNING tuner where the some others may not be.

Dancer, I tried to email you but you but am not able to do so.
Guess I will speak to you here. Personally I would go with Sal at PSP even if his price is a few $ more then some rogue/whoring vendors are selling it for. I can justify paying the $ to Sal as he is the only Predator vendor that I know of that includes the Predator power supply which you must have and the serial cable which you must have. Together the 2 would cost you say $20+-. So when you buy the Predator from Sal at PSP you get ALL that you will need as far as hardware and Sal also includes a CUSTOM tune that you would pay quite a few $ for if he just did a custom tune for you period. So, price is justified in my book. Another big point is with Sal you get a tuner that is pretty much 100% Lightning and zeroed in on it (the LIGHTNING) so to speak. I do not want a guy that is a jack of all tunes and a MASTER of none! Sal in my book is a MASTER LIGHTNING tuner where some others may not be. So, in the end it is a personal choice who you buy the Predator from.

Excellent point Bill,

I surly wasn't saying you said anything bad, I just wanted
to clear up a few things for those that got a little confused by
this post too, like Dancer here

There is no doubt Sal (PSP) is an amazing tuner, and prob knows more about the L than anyone I know due to his involvement with Ford, L tuning, and racing. Not to mention holding the Worlds Fastest Gen II Lightning Longer than anyone else, and for so many years. Also his knowledge of Nitrous and aftermarket Superchargers is amazing.

I consider myself unfortunate that I already had a chip and only met him afterwards. I Love the PSP products I have like his AWESOME Nitrous Plate, Drive Shaft Loop, Bars, etc... His service is always been awesome, and the products extremly well made, schitt he's even allowed me to run to his house in a jam to pick up Spark Plugs, and he hooked me up with my 28x10 Hoosiers, AR Rims, and Truck Trak's "used" via a Customer of his.
Sal's a great guy

I'm extremly glad Sal to hear you have a relationship with James, and I love the fact that you are now Diablo that'll open the door for me to do more business with you and PSP

PS to Sal
I didn't forget the RPM Switch, I never got the plug in Modulars needed for the MSD Window Switch, and until I have all the parts to make this work, I don't want to buy anything, plus MSD is offering to modify it for me for a very small fee, so I need to consider that too.
