Why would Diablo sell you the preditor without the power supply kind of like buying a Lighting and then you have to order the motor to go with it. Are you saying the Preditor will not work without this power supply I'd be pissed if I waited for the Preditor and then could not use it because I had to order the power supply I can understand the serial cable You also talk about rogue/whoring vendors Just because someone is sell a product at a cheaper rate then everyone elses who chose to OVERPRICE the product aint price fixing illegal any way? I'm not taking anything away from Sal or JLP and such but just because a Tuner just not only work on Lightning only does not mean he does not know what they are doing. It is pretty easy to work on one automotive make only but it takes talent to be able to work on multable makes and do it well. Sorry if this a flame I just don't see the point of bashing a vendor just because he is sell something for less than full retail and that he not a Lightning only tuner Sal , JLP and the other lightning only are leaving alot of money on the table by not doing more than the Lightning they do it well but that is all they do just my .02

When the Predator is hooked up to the vehicles OBD II port the Predator is powered by the vehicle. You need a power supply when you hook the Predator up to a home computer/Laptop. You need to hook up to a home computer/Laptop so you can offload the custom tunes you have on your chome computer/Laptop to your Predator. You get the Custom tunes from the tuner via email or say a diskette in the mail. Sal at PSP apparently felt that sending the Predator out without the power source and serial cable was a shortcoming of the Predator so PSP/Sal sends the power supply and serial cable as part of the package he sells.

Oh, never said a tuner that tunes multiple vehicle brands did not know what they are doing. I merely stated the obvious I thought and that was, Sal is a MASTER tuner as far as the Lightning goes where many others are not. Their talents are lets say divided. I do not want a guy that is "a jack of all tunes and a MASTER of none". No vendor bashing here from me just pointing out what I personally feel.

Jeff, I hear ya BUT.... look at it this way. You as a fire fighter say have a guy at your fire station that is highly skilled at say running/manning a 2003 Pierce Enforcer pump truck. Would you rather have him there running/manning that 2003 Pierce Enforcer pump truck during a major fire or a guy that is not all that familiar with a 2003 Pierce Enforcer pump truck? Sure both can get the job done but who would you rather put your life on the line with? I would rather put my L's like on the line with Sal who is a MASTER at tuning the Lightning and not just a jack of all tunes and a MASTER of none.

billarf I agree that someone who only does Lightning's sould have a better insite on tuning. This other guy from the sounds of it is good too I like you do not trust just anyone with my Lightning and you make some good points. And thank you for not getting all offended by my post you seem to be like me you speak and you listen and do not take offense to a different opinion. I love the analogy of the firefighters that was great. You have given me some more to think about before I make my purchase.

I have done business with James and Sal.
More than happy with service and product of each. Plan to do so again. Pay your money and take your chances.
Personally I feel that Having both guys is a plus in my book. Neither has ever guided me wrong....
Unlike one company that took my money and never produced the product for....what seemed like forever.

If I don't say so myself that analogy used in a conversation with a firefighter was perfect. Thought that would hit home with you. 8-) I also like this quote I twisted to fit the moment...
"a jack of all tunes and a MASTER of none". ho, ho, ho..

Also: consider if you want this tune or not. Standard Diablo Pulley tune:

3074 rpm_4.26v.MAF_18 deg. Sprk.Adv.
3508 " _4.36v. " _19deg. "
3754 " _ 4.50v. " _ 20 deg. "
4166 " _ 4.73v. " _ 21 deg. "
4612 " _ 4.91v. " _20 deg. "

Ping, ping ,pingalingading......

Just for comparison, put factory tune back in today.

Here is what factory tune read....

3151rpm-4.24v.MAF-11 deg. Sprk. Adv.
3524 " - 4.4v. - 10 "
3939 " - 4.71v. - 11 "
4664 " - 4.80v. - 12 "
(running +4 pulley and RamAir on stock program--no ping at all!)

I admit I'm old but still learning about engines, and am having fun with the Predator diagnostics. And:

I am now getting a custom tune from *** (one of the big tuners) to get rid of the ping.....to me, it's just not worth losing a motor for whatever few more HP the aggressive stock program gives.

Just a FYI.

James has been selling and working with Predators longer than any other dealer.

Sal has been using Autologic(who did the Revolutionary software) and has alot of experience tuning.

JLP- Has the Predator for the same price as James. Well kinda, didnt he have a special Predator and Pulley for $550 or pulley alone for $190 ?

The Predator is just a tool and no more.. Does not matter how long a vendor has been selling them. What really matters is the skill of the tuner in relation to the vehicle he is tuning.
