True Ford's synthetic oil is a blend (no idea what it actually is or who makes it).

Mobil1 however isn't a blend (although I believe it used to be). Makes me wonder what chevy/dodge/porsche etc. do as they come with mobil1 in them.

I use Mobil 1 5w30 and a Motorcraft Oil filter, althought the new motorcraft 5w20 full synthetic seems appealing.

Also the break-in statement is incorrect. If that were true not a single car would have synthetic from the factory in it, yet vettes, vipers, porsches etc... all have it and they break in just fine.
The '03 comes with Motorcraft synthetic BLEND I believe.... It is dino oil and synthetic blended.

I ran 5w-20 fossil till around 24000 miles then changed to Mobil 5w-30. I think it broke-in just fine, actually very well. Mine hasnt seen the strip as most on here have, but nevertheless, I feel the use of the fossil oil for a while before changing to synthetic was worth it.

Mobil 1---5W-20

I have not been able to find Mobil 1 5W20 in Austin. Spoke with a Mobil 1 rep at the Sema Show in Vegas a few week ago and was told that Mobil 1 5W20 was introduced at last years SEMA show and should be found a your local Walmart or parts stores.

Have any of you found it?

pep boys and sometime walmart will have mobil 0w-20 which is the equivalent/replacement to 5w-20. if you want to you can use mobil 5w-30 synthetic as the wighting characterstics in the synthetic is so close a a 5w-20 in dino form.

oh yeah, check this out. it's an independent study done aby a couple of some of the ls1 bubbas.

seniorchief,

Check out the Autozone on North Lamar, just north of Rundberg in North Austin.

They have Mobil 1 0W-20 and Mobile 1 oil filters.

I have also found the Mobile 1 before at the Wal-Mart at 620 in Round Rock, but not consistently.

I have run Mobile 1 since new 500 miles to 18k and then switched to RedLine 5/30 for the last 3k miles. I have been using Purolater Pure One filters (rated best by a engineering study I read a few years ago). They flowed the best and filtered the smallest particles and had a quality construction. Only the K&N compared and it is expensive. I blew my motor up in August using Nitrous (broke 3 rods). The machine shop that took the motor apart thought the truck was new as there was 0 bearing wear. I will stick with Synthetic.

ok i run mobil 1 5-30, costco sells it, i was worried about the heavier viscosity but after i dynoed my truck i saw how black the oil was after only 1500 miles, so ill try mobil1 with a heavier viscosity and check out my next oil change.

the motorcraft oil filters are made by pureoilater so there is no difference between the two
