That will always be the Dodge(and Chevy) boys' excuse if they lose to a Lightning(or Turbo Buick) So, big deal, the Lightning has a blower, nothing is stopping Dodge or Chevy from putting a (factory warrantied) blown engine in their trucks is there ??

Horsepower is Horsepower no matter how it is achieved. N/A or supercharged. So no more lame excuses like "well if I had a supercharger....".

Hmmmm......., for all the smack that is talked about the SRT-10 and the hemi engines; mostly negative on this forum. You folks need to educate yourselves just a tad more before shooting your mouths off. Reading these post clearly shows there is concern on the lightning owners part that there will be upcoming truck wars and lightnings are in the for front as tried and true performance machines. As for even thinking the 5.4l is comparable to the 5.7l hemi, you have to be kidding. If the 5.4l was so good, why would ford be redesigning it to keep pace with vortec and the hemi? I think lightnings are awesome trucks and I respect them without reservation. Just remember your blown and the hemi isn't and neither is the srt-10. Sounds more like biased, uneducated panic in these forums and I really expected more from the lightning owners than just bad mouthing competition before it's even on the street. Sorry to rant but grow-up!
Please link to your posts on the Dodge truck boards where you tell them to grow up. Seriously, they throw the smack down just as much if not more. It will be a least a couple months before a real evaluation of these trucks is possible so if you're going to accuse L owners of bias, you'd better be able to demonstrate your lack of it. Or are you just a hypocrite???

Ya know if I had a nuke then there would be no srt-10 problems at all, but since I don't then I guess I won't use that as an excuse....get what I'm saying? Angry that you dont have a supercharger.....so get one.

Angry that I don't have a s/c?

Well, I do have a s/c'd truck and I don't claim to be able to even come close to the lightning. I stick up for lightnings on all boards but to make claims such as the the 5.4l is a better engine than a 5.7l is absurd. The srt-10 may never be able to best a lightning; who knows and I don't personally care. I love the look of a lightning, the handling and the performance. I also love the look of the ram and it's ability to be a "truck". I realize there's many fanactics and ignorant brand loyal people out there including Mopar and I'm not one of them. A hypocrite; I'm not. I've never seen a lightning that I didn't give a to. BTW/ I can't beat you in race but I can sure as hell drag your *** down the track.

Car and Driver is going to publish 13.6 @ 105 and a 0-60 of 4.9 seconds for the Dodge. In the comparo graphs they have the Lightning at 13.8, equal stopping distance and skidpad numbers, and of course the $46,000/$33,500 price advantage for the Lightning.

Bring IT

It'd be one thing if the truck ran mid 12's or had a turbo on it, and ran 11's or something. But I think with the average driver it's going to be in the 13's. For a $45,000 truck that has 500 horse, that's **** poor in my opinion. That is just me. Some dodge guys may think my truck for what I paid for it vs an rt is poor... But we are all entitled to our own opinions. Bring on that 500hp/500 foot #'s of torque, "biggest, baddest, boldest, fastest full-size pickup ever - the Viper-powered 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10."
Oh.. Dodge....
Do you think Dodge is having 2nd thoughts about producing this thing?

One thing to keep in mind is that the folks over at Car & Driver are pros with tons of experience launching high powered manual transmission vehicles. The average driver may never equal their times. The L on the other hand takes only a couple of runs before almost any driver has it down pat and can repeat it run after run.

By the way, DH, sounds like you are privy to some insider info at C&D. Do you work over on Hogback Rd. or just have a bug planted in the men's room over there?

BoogyMan - I'm half way between Pioneer High and Allmendinger Park, just west of the Stadium (no you can't park Saturday)

F150SVT - My brother has a relationship with C&D, they use his community college auto shop and he places students with them as Road Warriors. We've been grunts on big tests and were able to drive test cars to Alaska and the spring race at Bristol this year!

Pretty cool, DH! I've been a reader of C&D since before David E. was editor. (And before it was owned by a French publisher.) It's an excellent magazine.

All that anyone does know for a fact is, Ford has produced a fast truck, Dodge hasn't. Enough said.

How would you define a fast truck? Dodge has the Dakota R/T. Plus, Dodge did start the truck wars with the L'il Red Express

"fast" is an opinion word, it can't be a fact

I can't believe all of you guys. This is about the 6th post in the last few months where all of you start belittleing the Dodge. Who cares what they produce. Competition makes everyone work harder. All the petty arguments and excuses on the subject are laughable. I remember some people on here crying about some of the mags only showing that the Lightning does a low 14 in stock trim and the jokes were made that they didn't know how to drive a Lightning obviously (it's an automatic). Now a report comes out that a Dodge does a 13.6 and it's because the magazine has a professional driver who knows how to get the most out of it. Which way is it. lol. Like I said, who cares. It'll just make Ford work a little harder on the next generation. I love competition. It makes everyone better.

I received a call from an old friend tonight. Seems he has aquired a new job doing fleet sales for a Dodge dealership not far from here.

During the conversation, he mentions the new SRT-10. Seems the dealership he works for has been allocated ONE SRT-10. He told me it was suppose to be arriving within a week or so.

Apparently the Dodge boys are pretty worked up about this new truck. He starts telling me all about how this truck is going to blow the lightnings off the road and all. Funny part of this, he has not stopped talking long enough up to this point for me to tell him I have a Lightning. So on and on he goes about this fast new "king of the road".

Now for the best part......He tells me that this new Dodge will do 12.9 in the quarter.

That truck just keeps getting faster and faster, but we still haven't seen one on the lots yet. .

He is suppose to call me when it comes in and I will go down and check it out.
By the way.............he says it will be 48,900.00 minimum, price could be more if they start getting alot of interest in it.

Rocks
