Anyone else using the Superchips custom tuning software/chips yet?

I've been playing with this stuff for a while and really like it. I have never liked any of the previously available things that put this power in the hands of the end user, they all seemed to be lacking, mostly in the area of documentation. With this thing, I think a child could tune, no problem.

If anyone hasn't seen this, a bit of information about it, the end user is able to buy a single chip and the burner, it comes with a good program already customized to your exact vehicle, and the ability to tune from there using some very intuitive software, no more sending the chip off and waiting forever for reburns, just do it yourself. Plus the ability to change things in all 4 banks of the EEC, none of the prior superchips chips can do this. To eliminate any confusion, I'm not talking about a 4 position chip which has 4 different programs, those chips like that still only address items in EEC bank 1, so only 25% of the calibratible items, this deal covers them all.

Good product SCT!

This is great to hear, I really like the part about a child being able to use it. The Program my tuner has given me has proved to be great, now I will have the ability to fine tune it and see results at the dyno or track. For those who are unfamiliar with the software, go to www.modulardepot.com. The software is made by SCT, it shouldnt be hard to find.

The cool thing is that you get a good file to start with, so it's just tweaking (if any) from there.

No, you have to use the new 4 bank chips, the old single bank ones will not work.

Price is $795 for the pro racer package, this gives exactly the same level of control as what the dealers can buy. There is a racer package for a lower cost, this has a much more limited ability for you to make changes, more like the capabilities you see with a predator or the like. I.m not sure of the cost of that package, all I know is it is considerably less.

is it true that a second 4 bank chip is $299 ?

Is that dealer price ? The way I understood it they were trying to set up dealers to resell.

If the dealer price for a chip is 300 and the software is 1500 + ( $4400 to tune 98-03 mustangs, another $3000 to tune 93 to present F150's incl S/C, $7000 more to do other ford truck incl diesels and Rangers and expeditions, etc etc ) then you have to charge 400 or more per chip - Sure does raise the cost of a chip for the average application. Is a naturally aspirated F150 or mustang driver gonna pay 400 -450 for a chip ?

I know the software is cool and it lets you tune all kinds of stuff –
BUT to the end user its still just a chip - no diff than a chip from JDM or Mike Troyer or Sal Or JL - How much extra is the average user going to spend on their chip solely based on the way it was programmed ? Even if the results of the tune were 20% better than the standard Superchip or diablo chip would you pay $100 to $200 more (depending on markup ) for a chip ?

If you are a SCT dealer you are selling chips. Really expensive chips it seems....

Perhaps the prices on the web are MSRP and the real prices are lower. Perhaps there are package delas....

I know these questions could be answered by the vendor but they don’t respond to emails... Maybe someone here knows.

one more question... can you use the software on multiple vehicles and just buy serparate chip/vehicles licenses or do you have to buy a whole package for each vehicle??

I think you've got it wrong. I'd recommend going over to modulardepot.com for specific questions. It's definitely better than chip from the tuners above.

Here's a start: http://forums.modulardepot.com/forum...1000&x=11&y=16

Doug, While the Pro Racer package is not for a distributer such as JDM,JLP,SAL or Troyer. This is something for a person such as you or me to be able to use, it has the ability to reflash or burn extra chips for up to 4 other vehicles(I think its 4, might be more) The $ you pay for the extra program is for personal use. The advantage that you have over a chip, is the ability to retune for furture mods without the downtime of mailing and waiting for a chip. Like Mr Danner has said, the send you a base tune and you now have the ability to fine tune or dial your chip in 100%. Alot of times with a chip, this will take a few trips to the dyno and few reburns from your tuner. All this software does is give you the ability to fine tune on the dyno or at the track without needing a tuner. Its not the answer for everybody, Im sure with this software that some will blow their vehicles up. For some the Racers package will be all that is needed but for others, it gives us the the ability to tune all the parameters in the EEC. This is something that no software has ever offered before and with #75 injectors coming out for our trucks, the need to go to a standalone system such as FAST or GEN7 might not be needed. I also understand that Modulardepot will be the source of information on this product. Kinda like when you have a hardware problem on your computer, you have to call tech support in India before you can have the company fix your product. Like other have said, Go to ModularDepot for all the details, its hard to keep up with everything going on but, Its some very good reading and learning.
