JDM Cam Special...

Recently we had requests for jdm to put together an ultimate cam package together. Since we have had a great turnout so far with our engine internals package special that I posted yesterday we thought it would be a cool idea to offer the Lightning community a special deal on our cams and all necessary parts to complete the install. These are the very cams we use in all our 10 second daily driven customer trucks. Included in the deal are the following:

JDM spec'd Cams (2)
Titanium Retainers (16)
Sprockets (2)
Spacers (2)
Valve Springs (16)

JDM has spent countless hours on the dyno and at the track to find the right grind for our Lightnings. Not only do they make amazing power and a one off rumble but they will retain your trucks streetability and idle quality is great. When it came time to choosing a valve spring we knew it was critical that we find one that will hold up to this special cam spec. We looked no further than the very people who make valve springs for Ford themselves. We have had great success with these springs. Our titanium ratainers are lighter and stronger than steel. Power wise we have seen gaines up to 65+ horsepower. Of coarse it all depends on what combo your vehicle is running but expect some serious gains from any combo. Okay, now for the price. For the month of November only we will be selling this whole kit for $1095.00 plus S&H. To order please contact JDM at 732/780/0770, Monday through Friday, 8-6 PM or E-Mail me directly at micronp450@aol.com. Any questions please feel free to ask..

Thanks,

Justin@JDM

justin, is it necessary to have a built motor or internals to upgrade cams. Who would be "eligible" for the cam special, i.e. what other mods are necessary in order for the cams to operate correctly. Thanks....and by the way the two specials you guys have are great....

Dave,

Basically the kit includes everything you are going need to complete your camshaft install. A built lower end in not required. I'd do the install for the sound alone, it is amazing! Plus you get all that power. Thanks for the support Dave.

Justin,

Can you give me a general idea of what the specs are on the cam...lift between .xxx and .xxx inches and duration between xxx and xxx degrees. Don't need exact specs as I'm sure you guys worked hard to figure out the spec you are running on these but wanted a general idea of how they compare to some other cam options like Crower, etc. Also, are there different 'stages' of cams that one could spec with this package or is it just a single grind? Also, what kind of seat pressure do these springs have at valve closed and say .500 lift? Again, ballpark figures are cool with me. Also, will these springs and retainers work with 1mm oversized valves on both the intake and the exhaust?

Thanks in advance,

Dan

I'd be willing to bet they compare EXTREMELY closely to a Crower stage 2

Even if they do compare closely to the Crowers, atleast when you order them and install them yourself, you know your getting what you paid for

Just call Crower directly and ask about the 'custom' JDM cams, they can give you some very interesting info. Of all the parts in an engine, the last thing to do is stick in a mystery cam...thats crazy.

In one of Jim's latest post (he was defending himself) he stated that all they run(at JDM) are the Crower stg II cams, the larger of the two, sense there are two stg II cams listed in the catalog.

superfords, rs and Grey,

Hence my question about the specs...it'll be a cold day in hell before I blindly purchase a 'cam du jour' to throw in the motor. I was looking for general specs so I could compare them to the Crowers (I had also heard that JDM used the Stage 2's) as I am contemplating possibly going with a Crower Stage 3. Super - what cams did you buy for your motor?

I got the Crower Stage 2s:

If I ever get my heads back from Extrude Hone and the rest of my stuff (block/crank/rods/pistons etc) back from the machine shop, I'll put the darn thing together and get it dyno'd to see what she's going to put out....

I can't wait.

later,
chris

super,

Any particular reason why you went with the Stage 2's? Any reason that you wouldn't go with the Stage 3's?
