and one kick a$$ 11 second run

Got to love it Captain, the SOB still did good,
and it means there's something else left once we
straighten this hopping out, cut a better 60, and also gain some MPH with more air in the Hoosiers.

BTW
HEY CAPT, HOW COME YOU DIDN'T CHECK THE AIR IN MY TIRES
YOU COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS

I have Cal-Tracks and have the same problem. The rear end will rise up on launch and the slicks will just spin and not hook. I ran 12.20's with high 1.8 60ft's cause I could not hook. I know if I could get off the line it would run 11's but it won't. I have stock shocks and have tried just about every adjustment I can for the Cal-Tracks and It does the same thing every time. Do I need different shocks to make the Cal-Tracks work right or should I throw them away and get some thing better? I had better 60ft times without the Cal-Tracks on my old F-1's.

The concept of the lift bars is simple. The only way you will stop it from lifting the rear of the truck is to move the endpoint forward to the center of gravity of the truck. Here is a pic of the JDM traction bars. According to their website, these are 58" long, and terminate at the CG of the truck. I am not endorsing this product, I am just mentioning that this is the length (similar to a torque arm) that is needed to keep the pinion angle constant, and not move the CG up. If you combined these with the Track-link upper traction bars, it seems to me you'd have a virtual 4-link setup.

Welcome to the world of slapper bars.

Now go call Sal about a set of Caltracks,

If you put a set of those long azz bars on there that the other folks sell......your problem will go the other way.

If you want the truck to drive out of the hole perfectly, I would use the Caltracks, but they are a drag race item....not for everybody. My .02

I agree with Dale.

Putting on slicks and doing large burnouts is the extent of my slick knowledge

No problem Ronbo, next time I see ya, you're going even faster!

Great info Loco, Dale, Steve, EVERYONE
Yes it seems everyone is fine with the long bars,
prob the best choice

Seems to be a differance of opinion on the Cal Trac's
How long are they, ANY PIC'S Installed on a Lightning ?

Would the Trac Link Upper be enough by itself ?
Could I use them along with my current Truck Trak's ?

Or is the long Bar just the better way to go
I'm worried about clearance though, I've heard of them hitting

You only need/can use one form of traction bar. The only thing you could add use with one of them is a set of spring clamps. Pick a vendor, and buy a set of Rancho style bars. Put them on and forget about them

I too started out with the slapper bars(actually lakewoods), and now use JL's bars. But, I think I would buy LFP's bars now since you can get them in black. Everybody wants WAY too much for them, but those two are the cheapest.

Oh, I am lowered 2/3 and the only thing I have hit so far is my own driveway with the front mounts. For some reason my driveway is like a extra high speed bump. Other than that I can drive around town without hitting; you just have to be aware they are there, and be careful.

Live and learn, I guess............ well for any "stock" L owners - who haven't lost their mind, like me, my T Traks are available, make an offer...................they are still great for the street, no doubt about that!

I paid 279 and this is all Rob's fault............. j/k Rob, life goes on. The thread is very informative, besides Gator's monkey, didn't need to picture that............

Anyone interested send me an email, I will get back to you.

Now the big question, if I am eventually going to be in the monster 600+ hp and 800+ torque what the he!! kinda set up am I going to need to keep the rear down and planted??

Are these lift bars the answer?

D-Day

Of the limited selection offered to L owners, I'd look into either the cal trac bars or the comp engineering slide-a-link setup since both are adjustable. The long rancho bars are basically a primitave ladder bar.

Here's a simple rule of thumb from chassis legend Jerry Bickel "Long, low intersect points create traction for the longest time, but react slowly. Short high intersect points create traction for the least time, but react fast."
