Question aftermarket hood install question

Is it feasible to get an aftermarket hood, install it myself for fit, then remove it and take it to a body shop, and bring it back home to install myself?

The motivation is that I'd prefer to not leave my L sitting at a bodyshop for several days while they work on it.

I put mine on but it was already painted and had been on another L before.

absolutely-that is without a doubt the best way to handle it. Just be sure to grab a few quilts to wrap it in when you pick it up....

Its been my experience, not just with the truck, that it varies. Some hoods must be fitted and sanded. Some just need to be prepped, and some need a bit of work before they can be painted

I have the ram air cervinis hood and it had nothing wrong with it. I let it set out in the sun for a little while to let it shrink as much as it could. Then all you have to do is send it to the body shop to have it painted.
