Damn why cant our local strip look like that. Its funny that mostly all the fastest Supras have all swtiched over to the Single turbo setup instead of keeping the double. All though it all makes perfect sense.

Ahhh Schaumburg ... home of fast cars and fast women ....

Tom, do you know the Walke twins ??? They raced SCCA
with my brothers at Blackhawk back in the 70's and 80's

I think it was Rich, and I don't remember his brothers name

Cliff

I'm in Elgin. We are having a Lightning day @ Byron on the 26th of October if you're interested. Just something to consider in case the trip to US41 falls through.

What did the turbo Cobra run???? I'll bet the little six could hang with the big dogs pretty well. Can someone say, snake fight? Cobra Vs. Viper????????

whip,

The GN Cobra was running mid to low 12's the few times I watched it run. Most of the Vipers were in the 10's

I didn't actually get to see the cobra run but I heard 12's too. Funny that same setup in a lot heavier car nets the same result. A stock GN (maybe with a little more boost) will go in the 12's and it has to weigh right at 4000#'s.

the vipers are a mix:
The yellow GTS, that did not run, the Black RT/10 (with hard top on) and the BLue w/ white stripes GTS have all gone 10's.
The sapphire blue could go a high 10 on slicks given the right conditions. the rest are pretty much stock but have gone 11's.

Gonna go for a mid 12 in the lightning on street tires this week. Everyone likes to see the sonic blue street scream down the 1320'. Gonna be at GLD either tomorrow night or next week some time. Gonna try to make it out to byron on the 26

thanks for the invite. How far is Byron from Plainfield about 2 hours? US41 is about an hour and a half... any clue how far byron is from Plainfield? (an hour south of chicago) between naperville and joliet. Thanks, Shane

Tom,

They are more than welcome and if we have enough room they can park in our little roped off area. After the Lightning brackets are over maybe we could get a few grudge matches in. It'd be cool just for the photos A friend of mine should have his Gen 1 Lightning out and his truck will give the Viper boys a good run for their money

Shane,

Yeah, it looks like a 2 hour drive for you. The best way is to hop on 88 west then cruise out to 39 and take that north to 72 and 72 west to the dragstrip. Since the weather is nice most of the local guys around here go racing there pretty much every weekend. Byron usually hooks as good as Joliet.

I like how they took out the head light to allow for cold air to smack that filter directly... those supras can be bad as hell if you have the money to build it up. Its one of the only imports that i would drive if I had the extra dough..
