Do you know how many complaints need to be filed in comparison to production totals before the chances of a recall becomes strong?

If it really does cost around $1000 to have ford replace it just put on an aftermarket aluminum IC yourself. JDM, REM, or JLP has them for around $400-$450 and it performs better, so why not.

No do yuou?

I know if this becomes a safety issue (driving down expressway and engine vapor locks, (no power steering or brakes, driving at 70mph) could be very damn dangerous.

Many have been filed, I keep up on this weekly. They are investigating. But the more the better.

No, I don't know. Even though it doesn't effect me, I wondered if there was a magical number that had to be hit before legally the manufacturer had to act or a recall had to happen???

As far the under-the-bumper heat exchanger, Fluidyne/JDM/REM and JLP are the only ones I know of.

We are talking about two different things here. What people call "the intercooler" is the heat exchanger under the blower. What people call "the exchanger" is the heat exchanger behind the bumper.

The leaking intercooler TSB was about the intercooler, not the exchanger. Apples and oranges.

What Tim said..

Heat Exchanger sits below bumper.
Intercooler sits under the blower, between the top of hte engine and the blower. (you won't see it)

WHen I took mine off it had Hyrogliphics on it, someone etched in.
I have pics somewhere.

Why No Recall?

Ford executives know there were faulty intercoolers placed on the lightnings in the years this problem occured. The correct and customer friendly thing to do would be to fix this problem without any questions asked. The cheap and **** your customer thing off to do is to follow the pattern that theyve been following on this issue. They will moan to you if you bring your truck in with aftermarket parts on it and tell you that youve voided the warranty, but when they have a problem with product quality, they will look for a way to blame the consumer. The funny thing is their trying to figure out why there sales are down 30 percent and their stock is in the shytter!

Well thanks for all the help. My original warranty is up. But when I got the truck I bought an extended warranty and it has helped me 2 times(only times I have taken the truck to the dealer for work)
I haven't gotten a chance to take it in, but hopefully when I do they will replace it.

Thanks again.
