Me thinks it's leaking somewhere!

Just for the heck of it, check the engine oil.

Check your hoses and hose connections first. If they are OK then you have the infamous leaking intercooler feature.

Yep, you got a leaky intercooler just like me in my 99. It's gonna cost you a pretty penny to fix. I will be payin close to 1k with a member of this board doing the work. Don't even waste your time with SVT or Ford because they won't cut you any slack and will end up charging you around $1300. I am in the process of writing a letter to William Ford on this matter. Hopefully I will be able to get some of my money back. Anyway, good luck and if you have any q's just email me at svtlighting1019@aol.com

hey

E-mail me and I'll give you the D/L on what to do to have Ford offset the cost and possibly replace it, (even if out of warranty)

Mark,

I went through this on my 99 in April (3500 miles ONLY!)
I did pretty good.

Not sure why you would expect Ford to pay for it now... There was quite a long time to get the fix performed.
Did you buy the truck without knowing too much about it?

a recall shouldn't expire, many people never got notices about it and many people bought their trucks after it was expired(like me) from a ford dealership. didn't know about this infamous problem til like a month ago

Grandmastr is correct, it does not matter how many owners regarding recalls. Once a recall is issued all you have to do is make an appointment at the dealer in your area.

I had to pull my intercooler when my first KB seized, it really isn't that hard of a job, just time consuming.

Good Luck!

this was NOT a recall, this was a customer service/satisfaction campaign issued by Ford that expired Sept of '02.

A Recall is issued by the NHTSA.

Ford claims this is not a safety concern, I tend to disagree and therefore the NHTSA hsan't issued the recall YET, THEY ARE CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING THIS PROBLEM,

To "help along" the investigation, please go to the NHTSA website and fill out a complaint, (take about 3 minutes)
the more complaints they receive the more likely they will issue the Recall and Ford will have to fix this, or reimburse us that have already had this fixed)

again, not a recall.
