Is this fuel ok?

Hey guys, was looking into getting some higher octane/better fuel than this CA 91 octane crap out here for track use. I was thinking 100 octane unleaded would be perfect but I can't seem to find any that's close to me in the Sacramento area. I went to a motorcycle shop close by that a lot of race teams run out of and they have everything up to 116, but it's all leaded...except for some 114 octane trick fuel unleaded which the guy said was 106 octane on the motor. I was wondering if this was OK to run on my truck? Would I be ok to mix with 91 octane to get an 100 octane mix. I wasn't so sure because I see some of you running 100, I've even seen up to 103. But 114 seemed a little steep. Any suggestions?

If your L was tuned from the factory for 91 octane or if you have a chip tuned for 91 octane, using 106, 114, etc. will not gain you anything. In fact, because the higher the octane level, the slower the fuel burns; using it could slow your L down.

I check all of the Union76 stations around here...NONE of them carry 100 octane at any of their pumps.

The definition of octane is the resistance to predetonation...if your motor doesnt need the octane you will not gain from it....if you are tuned for it than yes.....

A lot of 76 stations actually carry the 100 octane cool blue in 5 gallon cans. If your local place doesnt have it, they an order it for you.

Is 100 octane airplane gas leaded? I think i have heard it is like low lead but not lead free or something like that. It is 2.21 at the airport so thats not as bad as racing gas here.

It does contain a small amount of lead but if you break it down with regular fuel, you should be ok. I know USAHOOTERS uses Av Gas.

I couldnt get that search function on 76's site to work.

Edit. I had to use the link off their store locator on the site to get it to work. So just goto 76.com and do it from there instead of the above link.
