Lightning Exhaust

I posted recently with a query to all you out there regarding a good exhaust. Thanks for all the opinions. I still havent decided which one yet but now I am considering doing something with the cat system. I see ads stating that the stock cats are very restrictive.

On another note, I have close connections with Ford Techs whom work on and also deal with specialty Lightning shops and they say the stock exhaust breathes great and laugh at people who dump $$$ on them.

Nonetheless whatever they say, I think I would prefer feedback from the people who own Lightnings rather than work on them.

I have an 03' and I'm talking daily driver with modest upgrades as in the exhaust, k&n, boost bypass, and either chip or pcm flash as my goal, possibly minimal pulley (boost) change.

Cat removal, cat back or both?

Thanks...Ron

No cats is extremely extremely loud.....

in 2 weeks I am going to hollow out my stock ones just to see how it sounds, and then put on the new ones.

(leaky I/C clogged the Cats...(thanks FORD))

BTW: Ford should cover this since they are responsible for the vehicle emissions up to 75000 miles.

The stock exhaust does flow well except for the stock manifolds. I have the bassani equal length headers to even out the air flow exiting the heads. Ford went the cheap route with the manifolds. Your ford tech friends are probably right with the cats and the catback but I laugh at them about the manifolds.

Lightning Exhaust

Thanks all for the replies, even if the exhaust didnt make much difference the truck is way too quiet for me. I'm used to driving my 85 GT which I have a number of hops-ups including a MAC system from headers to the tailpipes.

So you like the magnaflow insomniac?, might have to consider that one.
