Thanks for the tip on Hawk -- I think I'll be loking at those.

But I'm still curious why ceramix are no good at the track?

they are ok, they just don't resist fading as well as some others like the hawks

as far as drag racing, why would it be a bad idea to have ceramix on the rear when doing a burnout?

Couldn't have said it better myself. They dust just as much as the stockers.

I have the autozone raybestos quiet stop ceramic pads front and back. I thought they were the same as the napa ones, I guess not. Hardly any dust here. I love them.

NAPA Ceramics on front and rear for 10,000 miles now. Almost no dust on the fronts and even less on the rears. No squealing either.

Wouldn't that be somewhat dependent on who the driver is? I mean, alot of new people at the track are so overwhelmed by everything that they barely drive any part of their vehicle to it's limits. Then again they may freak and be on the brakes the whole time.

Well if you do any type of roadcoursing you should put on get pads and change to good fluid, period. It's not worth it and very risky to take brakes lightly at OT events.

Dust = Good Stopping and no fading ...

Try this experiment .... Panic stops from 140 to 0 then do it again
and yet a third time ... If you don't have any fading, you got
great pads and brakes.

Stokers or Ceramics can't do this ... I toasted a pair of
stockers at Putnam and ran two days on the Bembos
at IRP with NO problems ...

No fade... Drove Deep Braked Late.

I'm With Bob on this ... Plus you can have HAWK material
reapplied to the Brembo pads a lot cheaper than the 280
for the front pads alone from Brembo.

Heh, y'know, I've discovered its alot harder to find someplace to do this then I thought here in suburbia. (without fear of PoPo)

Also Cliff, I found Brembo's street-strip asbestoes pads for less then 280...was um, 160 I think.

I almost wrecked last night because of the ceramic pads. The stockers were never this bad that I remember. I tried a hard stop from about 120. When I slowed to maybe 60 I had all kinds of brake fade. Never had that happen before. I still like the ceramic low dust, but I'm thinking of sticking the stock wheels back on along with the Brembos I have all boxed up...
