Water Wetter Data...

I bought two cans of water wetter tonight and took some quick readings with an infa red temp gun. I made a trip up rt 128 and back and logged the "before" temps in various locations, and then added the water wetter to the I/C and the ratty-A-door overflow tank and made the same trip with about the same driving style, and then took the after temps.
Here goes...
I/C return line 92 then 88
front of cyl head 157 then 150
Radiator in 157 then 155
Radiator out 150 then 145
Inside the V of the block 179 then 168

What does it all mean? Either the stuff works, or something happened (like an easier cruise the second time) that swayed my results. Both times, the outside air temp was between 71-73 degrees. Take it for what its worth...just thought I'd share!

I believe it...water wetter is supposed to make metal surfaces slippery thus allowing better heat transfer...

I actually went to the dyno, took all my water wetter out with a product called water dryer, did 78 pulls, put my water wetter back in, made 78 more pulls, every one being exactly 43.3335 hp greater WITH the water wetter (I lost a little low end torque though). I was so amazed I went straight to the track and had similar results, but I lost all 78 time slips for both the before and after runs.

Thats interesting numbers that you have there. I've used water wetter for 4 yrs on my Lightnings . Don't know if it helps but the people with round D round cars swear by it

Water wetter sounds like blinker fluid for your cooling system, but hell, maybe it does work.

A 5-10 degree difference in temps according to whip's tests could mean 1-2% more power, if you use the rule of thumb that a 10 degree drop in air temps means 2% more power in a supercharged application.

So we're talking possibly 4 to 8 HP, which ain't bad for something you just pour in. Hell, I'd buy it just because of the increased corrosion resistance that Redline claims.

I'm picking up 2 bottles tonight at Jegs.

I was going to use some when I cleaned my intercooler and replaced all the fluid...but I couldn't find it at autozone, discount auto, or advanced auto parts .... so I just used the water/prestone mix. They had some "other" stuff that claimed 30 degrees change in temp, but that sounded like bs anyhow

Actually, this stuff does work and it works very well. Ihave used in my SC'd Mustang and my friend who owns a Honda Motorcycle dealership and road races bikes very competitively, has used it religously. Water Wetter howver is more effective in doing its job with straight water in the coolant system (such as in race vehicles) and becomes less effecient with cooalnt, etc....but it does work.

I also used it in my mustang, and it really works but it only lasted for about a month or two. During the summer I would drive my mustang to the track and I always had to wait about an hour or two for the cool down. But When I used the water wetter, I only had like a thirty-forty five minute cool down before I could stage. I heard one of the guys at the track say "that you can do the same thing with a couple of drops of liquid dish soap" But I didn't bite. Nor am I brave enough to try !

purple ice

i currently have purple ice in my i/c and radiator. Don't know about the radiator but the i/c fluid runs 10 degrees cooler, plug when circulating the pump manually, seem cool with plenum down quicker along with some ice and the e-fan.
