TN is too far, especially on short notice. I dont like humidity as it is.
Last time I checked the Mod motor shootout is in OH. I could be wrong.
I'm not planning on attending any NLOC sponsored events.

I thought you were referring to TN... Ohio is even further.

Why arent you supporting NLOC events?

I wish someone would offer me $500 to race. I'd even take the bottle out of my truck.

You guys are only 4-5 hours away from me and I'd go, but I don't have a roll cage so that means one pass for me. I could make it go less than 12's, but what fun is that when I suck at bracket racing?

I don't know Dave King that well. I've met him twice and talked to him for a few minutes each time. He called my shop and asked me if I would like to be the sponsor of the Lightning class for the mod motor shootout. He most likely would have never called me if the mod motor shootout didn't fall on the same weekend as the NMRA event which both Sal and Johnny have invested interest in. Dave King and I have a mutual friend, I've contacted this person before I gave my commitment to Dave. What happened after my conversation was that JDM became the sponser of the Lightning class. The $2500 payout is a guarantee, I've already payed Dave for this. Since we are the largest Lightning supplier out their he hit us up for a bigger payout for this year's shootout which I agreed to. It's not often that a Lightning enthusiast gets to take home $2500 for having fun. We have 30-40 Lightnings show up at every Fun Ford Weekend event and the payout is only $500. It's not about the payout, it's about participating in the Lightning community, having fun and getting away from this crazy world for the weekend.

Last years Mod shootout sucked @SS!
Grey03 or JJ,

This type of attitude toward the Lightning community is what got you banned off of every baord out their. I've been to nearly 50 Lightning events for the past two years and not one of them sucked. You get to race, go out to dinner with the Lightning community, you get to put faces with board names. At every event I've had a good time and learned something. The problem here is you said you were at FFW in Virginia, the JDM shootout day, and now you're saying you were at the Mod Motor shootout and you have posted that they all sucked. The only thing that sucks here is your attitude towards the Lightning community and their events where people go to have fun. Since day one you have done nothing positive for the Lightning community. You would probally be happier if you just sold your truck and bought a Volkswagen because anybody who makes this amount of negative posts cannot be happy.

Guess I should have clarified my statement for those that have ADD.

The way the shootout was run sucked, the racing and hanging out was fun and I had a blast with all the people that showed up.

Having fun isnt the issue here Jimbo, its how the event is run from start to finish and how organized it is. You have given a great purse for this years shootout, but will you feel that it is money well spent afterwards when your class's races arent run correctly?

You mean to tell me that Dave couldnt have gone to the track officials and told them they were running the classes wrong last year and we could have re-run the way we were supposed to?

The way it was run was terrible and I hope this years is better.

Never said that the JDM shootout or the FFW richmond event sucked Jimbo, I just said that your predictions never came true, thats all.

BTW, I have a great time everytime I go out and race my truck, its fun, I meet new people and dont have to worry about my stock 99's performance numbers because its consistant and reliable.

Dont slam people with volkswagens Jimbo, I know someone with a turbo beetle that just might take offense to that

Good luck with the shootout,

SERVICE FOR LIFE

JDM's payout of $2500 is guaranteed. Print this email out as proof. JDM kept our Lightning truck program when our other sponsors couldnt commit because of the conflict. JDM has been
great to work with, and I want the record to show that he's been
very positive about everything. JDM will have the option of renewing this class if we do another shootout. I want to say thanks to Jim for his support when we needed it.

Thanks Dave and you are right that JDM is great to work with and as far as that goes to have fun with.

Hopefully next year I can make the Mod Motor shootout.

See you in Ennis!!!

Lightning Bob Will Be In Columbus Even Though Joliet is 45 Minutes Away

Instead I will be driving 7 hours to be at the Mod Motor Shootout to try to win some real mod money!

Thanks Jim@JDM for making that possible!

Nothing against the other tuners, but I've had my fill of Route 66 Raceway. Too many nights of "Pay and Wait" for my 1, or sometimes even 2 time trials per night at that facility. Their management could care less about racers with street vehicles or their customer's satisfaction.
They will get no more support from me.

I hope the NMRA will bring their event back to Byron Dragway for the Illinois race next season.
At least the owner there treats everyone with respect, and truely appreciates the business.

Good Luck to everyone, at each event.

Lightning Bob
