Upper Intake/EGR question
1-remove egr valve.
2-plug hole with JB weld.
3-I cut a small 3 inch section from the bottom of the egr tube, bent it over a couple of times, and screwed the fitting back on the long tubes.
4-remove all egr sensor crap. I call it weight reduction and the way to change plugs quicker.
5-tuner can burn chip to turn off codes for these sensors.
6-driving with the sensors unpluged doesn't seem to hurt performance if you don't have a chip.
7-If tuner turns off codes you can pass an emmisions obdII test which only checks for codes.

But, I think I am with easterisland; I am heading out to put my stock pully back on

nobody ever said that pullies don't work, I just said that I question the real gains realized by removing the egr system.
people are buying plenum spacers because they have run out of other things to buy.

Hey Chris; you know there are some people who always have to have something they are working on/changing; even if it is not for a big gain. But, It could be just another piece of the puzzle in the game of speed. The reason I am interested in getting rid of it is due to it being a heat source in a place we don't need anymore heat.
As far as it being "illegal" I don't think the law provides for replacing the stock cats for a set of long tubes and high flow cats on a brand new truck either. Not to even talk about using a chip.

The point
The EGR valve doesn't open during idle or WOT. The ammount of heat it is generating is very minimal. Yes it's a small piece of hot metal, but it doesn't generate much heat.
The SC generates a TON (that a metric ton
) more heat than the contact with the EGR tube.

I'm glad you don't like chips, pullies, long tubes, and quick trucks. You must drive a Prius or one of those funny looking Honda hybrids...
