HD vs. L

Truck Trend magazine has a section called Road Test Review that lists some of the specs of the stock trucks they have tested. This is what they show for a stock L vs. HD:

Price: L $32,640, HD $37,995

Wheelbase: L 119.8, HD 138.5

HP/TQ: L 380/450, HD 340/425

0-60: L 5.2, HD 6.2 (a full second slower)

Weight: L 4670, HD 4697 (! is that all?)

Max Payload: L 800, HD 1375

Max Towing: L 5000, HD 4500

GVWR: L 5600, HD 6700

Also, in the July/August issue they have an article comparing the HD, Chevy SS and Dodge 1500 w/Hemi. The HD "blew" them all away! There is also a nice article on the '04 Lightning concept. Estimated 0-60 is 4.5 sec., estimated 1/4 mile is 12.5 @ 115 and estimated price is $40K.

The 04 will be identical to the 01-03's

But it's good to see some "preliminary" performance numbers for the Gen 3's.

Good point, soap; you're correct. It'll be the 2005 model year before we see the Gen 3's. It'll be interesting to see how they differ from the concept. One change I've heard is that the wheels will be 20's on the production version in place of the 22's on the concept.

Also, I just noticed that the Truck Trend specs are for an '02 Lightning. I believe the only difference is that the '03's have a 1350 pound payload capacity instead of 800.
