I'm NOT going to vender bash!!!!! Please don't!

I have had a JLP 3lber for awhile, no problems. I wanted to upgrade and went with a PSP 4lber.

Everything is great in Lightning Land.

Took out the JLP 3lber....No problem.

Cleaned the inside of the crankcase pulley (harmonic balancer).

I get the new pulley lined up and get a bolt started, turn it a couple of times. I could not get it finger tight any more. So I busted the socket and started to tighten. It was a little tough, but didn't think much of it, because I had some thread locker in there........

Then I stopped and said to myself, this is not right. So I took the bolt's out and what do you know.......I stripped her out.

How come the JLP bolts were fine? Not the PSP?

Where they 01' and up bolts?

Well, I didn't promise anything because I don't know whether we'll have it off tomorrow or not, but if we do I'll give it to you, you just pay for shipping. Like Speedin' Bob did for me, I just think its good karma to help out a fellow Lightning brother (or sister). Just send me an e-mail with your address and I'll do my best.
GOOD KARMA!

As Silver Bolt pointed out, many people sell these pulleys with the incorrect bolts. The proper bolt is metric thread, not standard. However, the threads are so close, that the standard bolt DOES work, however it will distort the threads a tad. When you got the 4lb from me, it came with the proper metric bolts. So you most likely had the problem from having your threads distorted from having the standard bolts in there all this time.

As someone else mentioned, No need to buy a new balancer, just heli-coil yours and you are set. Hope this helps.

Thank's Sal!

But, I still stripped out the threads on one......

It sucks, not your fault.

If things fall through, do you have any used ones cheap? With the VIRGIN threads? HAHA virging threads, I crack myself up!

Uh oh, Steve, I just replied to your e-mail, and then I re-read this thread and saw that the '99 and '01 h.b.s are different. I have an '00 truck but the motor is an '01, so it looks like I won't be able to help you, after all. Sorry, I guess you can disregard my message. Why not just go for the helicoil like Sal suggested?
