harmonic balancer stripped!!!!!!

Hello weekend chum's!

Well, we have a man down at my house.

I stripped out one of the threads while installing my new 4lber.

Anybody done this? I think the new bolts I got were wrong. Are the bolt sizes different form 99'-00' to 01'-03'?

I have two of my old ones in perfect and the damaged one in pretty snug. So I'm gonna take it pretty easy on her til I get a new harmonic balancer.

How hard is it to take out the harmonic balancer? How much is a new one?

HELP!!!!!!!

Same thing happened to me. My brother over torqued one of the bolts. I went with a caged pulley instead..... By default as it were.:o

I might have one tomorrow, depending on how far we get with the rebuild.

Well, I didn't promise anything because I don't know whether we'll have it off tomorrow or not, but if we do I'll give it to you, you just pay for shipping. Like Speedin' Bob did for me, I just think its good karma to help out a fellow Lightning brother (or sister). Just send me an e-mail with your address and I'll do my best.

I have a 2001 harmonic balancer, but I couldn't send it out till monday, and it prob would cost allmost as much to ship it as a new one.

Also not sure if a 2001 HB is the same as the 99's

I was wondering when this would happen. I have posted many times about pulleys being shipped with the wrong bolts. I have seen many pulleys come with 3/8-16 bolts, the correct bolt is M10-1.5. The 3/8-16 will thread into the hole but it is very loose in the threads. Torqued properly it will fail (as you found out). Surprised it took so long for this to happen.
