Better shock for our Ls than QA1s?

Is there one out there that's Lightning-specific and better than the QA1s? I would love to see some Konis on an L but I don't think they make any

Also, cheapest place for QA1s? Stan's price is 650 or 675 I believe...

I believe Penski's, but they are way more for just 1 then the set of 4 QA1's.

So i guess no one feels adapting Koni Doube Adjustable Yellows to a heim joint would be a value to the Lightnings? Thats odd.

I am not sure, but I don't think Koni offers a shock short enough for most guys who have lowered their truck. The price/value of the QA1s is why most guys run them. While the QA1 shock is really a drag shock first and a road racing shock second, you will spend $500+ per shock for a comparable adjustable Penske.

Check out the 8100 series Penskes...

Yes I like the versatility of the QA1s (or many adjustable shocks) for that matter. I still have the option of picking up the Roush-valved Bilsteins for about 300, but QA1s would be more ideal for my applications of both the twisties and dragstrip.

I'd imagine it would be harder to find the correct fitting shock then it would be to fabricate a heim mount.

PHP Lighting Shocks kit - The best way to control the rear of your truck custom made for us by Penske. These shocks are specially valved and re-buildable. These same shocks are used by "Casper" and MM&FF's "Fridge".

Cost: $500 Installation: $80

Good enough for MM&FF, probably good enough for you.

The QA-1's are a good shock. What I feel our trucks would benefit most from is a shock that is adjustable for both compression and rebound. The QA-1's are compression only. It would not be hard to do but it would be time consuming to do. Koni, Tokico, Ohlins, Bilstein, KYB all make good quality shocks. The key is to find one with the proper valving to match our weigh and spring rate. Then find it in the correct length. Penske makes the best (my opinion) shock period. I have run them on open wheel cars and Trans-Am cars as well. Way overkill for anything street driven. Most drivers will not fully utilize the stock suspension to it's full capacity. More people need to learn to drive their trucks better before the make the truck better. Understand what you are doing and how the truck responds. Invest money in driving schools. When you learn how the truck feels at 10/10th's and can repeat that feeling lap after lap it's time to upgrade.

Personaly I am happy with my QA-1 shocks I didn't pay that much for them. Maybe a fraction of that cost I bought them from QA-1 direct.
