. . . .
Good enough for MM&FF, probably good enough for you.
MM&FF is just looking for drag performance, which is only half of Cyntaxx' battle.

PHP's stuff is horribly overpriced also. $250 for an intercooler fan kit. Please.

The PHP shocks are not adjustable, only rebuildable and at $250 per shock not exactly a bargain compared to the QA1s.

This is what a true road handling shock looks like…

The penske 8100's are available for the rear...they didn't have anything for the front last time, but that may have changed.

One of these days I'll upgrade to something dual adjustible...other things on the plate at the moment.

Well I've pretty much decided on the QA1s. I can stomach their prices and they seem to be pretty versatile and quality. Plus if they are good enough for most of you road racers out there, I'm sure they're enough for a "weekend enthusiast" like me.

Mr. Ayrton: I've seen those. Are they the same ones for our Lightnings? 139 isn't bad...about 550 for a set of 4, which is about 100 cheaper than Stan's price. Don't get me wrong though, I'll be buying from Stan too (his panhard, heim joint kit, etc. at least)

Mr. Suavy: So are you saying they are cheaper from QA1 directly? How much did you pay? cyntaxx@yahoo.com !

Mr. Skelton is correct, I'm looking for a little more than a drag shock. In fact, I want almost the complete opposite from that. I want a tight, composed ride, not the usually floaty tails true drag shocks seem to induce. I know the QA1s were primarily designed for drag use but you road race guys seem to be doing fine with them. Everytime I see Daniel's postings of his standings in events, I want his suspension setup (although I'm sure he is a better driver than me)

QA1s are QA1s...you can order from Stan, go direct or Summit. The $139 does not include the T-bar kits for the the front so figure in about $40 for two.

You might want to try Stan to see what he can do on price. I ordered mine direct only because I needed something special and I wanted to make sure I got what I needed.

You need to measure the rear from mount to mount and then call QA1 to make sure you get the correct length shock.

Thanks for the info. I will see if Stan will work with me on pricing.

I would just to add that Stan has been great to me and I would recommend him to anyone. He has gone out of his way to solve some suspension issues and I only wish he had more I could buy.

Hehehe same here. Is his website down though? After getting the bulk of the bolt-ons, I'm bored and I want to pile my money on suspension now! But other than running Penske shocks and some pretty exotic bits, it seems like not too much can be done without either custom-fabbing/welding your own braces, etc.?

I forgot to add that that you need to get a set Stan's heim joints for the rear and when you order the shocks make sue you get the 5/8 thick rods.

I think Stan is having some issus with his website hosting service, but talk to him about what you want the end result to be. I am very happy with what he made for me.

Hmm about 1500 dollars later in suspension and I'm finished?

Anything more??? So far:

Roush front/rear springs, bumpstops, cam bolts/washers
QA1s
Stan's rear heim joint kit
Adjustable endlinks
panhard

Debating Hotchkis swaybars but that 450 dollar price tag is a bit hefty.

Here is my set up...

Front

Western Chassis A-arms with Hotchkis coils, Hotchkis sway bar, and QA1s

Rear

Hotchkis leafs, Ruslow sliders, Ruslow C-notch, Hotchkis sway bar, Metco bars, and QA1s (still waiting on the shortened shocks and c-notch)

I really wanted to do a true 4-link, but with everything else going on I just could not get the time or funds together. Once the truck is finished (is it ever? ) then I may look at again.

ok i got some pics of the penske's but they are ****ty pics. But here is my $.02

The penske's that i have a are a DRAG SHOCK. they ride rough as all hell here especially since the roads here in the DC area suck major A$$. They are non adjustable and barely give at all. i have not tested them at the track yet. Also i do not road race or auto-x.

just my $.02

Why was the C-notch needed? I thought the rear leafs only dropped you 2 inches or so? Also, what are "sliders"?

And as for the shortened shocks, I'm guessing a shorter length is more ideal for our Lightnings in general? Or just your particular truck? Asking because I need to know if I should wait as well.

Finally, got any pics???
