If the truck misfires bad enough to throw a hard code and the problem is a coil pack gone bad the scan tool should say which cylinder the misfire is in. It won't tell you specifically what the problem is, but only which cylider.
I have an autotap and that is the info I got when a coil pack went out on my fathers '02 F150.
