serios issues

Just today I was told the rattling noise I was hearing from my truck is Rod Knock and my engine would need to be replaced under warrenty.

It has really made me sick when I think about it. Over the time I've had my truck everything that could go wrong has gone wrong.

One insurance claim for hail damage
One insurance claim for freeway debris
One insurance claim for vandalism
Passenger side head gasket leak
rear tailight with water in it
fog lights cracked (both of them)
air conditioning recharge and fix
rod through the side of the block, engine replaced under warrenty
and now rod knock,,, of which the engine will be replaced under warrenty
Plus all four 20 inch 01 replica rims are rust pitting and are in the process of being replaced under warrenty
Passenger side fog light once went through 3 lights in one month when I had to get that replaced as well.
Driver's side speaker does not work
lost my cd changer
various scratches and dents which only I would notice of course.

now if you are keeping score, thats two engines total now, one replaced at 13K miles, the other replaced at 15K miles,,, yes that is only 2000 miles apart from each other

The truck was bought at the end of hte 01 model year so i've only had it for a year and a half and she's been in the shop more times then I can count,,,,, I pay $520 a month for this, $520 a month to suffer through this, I still love ford and I love my truck, but I just get sick now everytime I think about it or look at it.

I remember bringing my truck home from the dealership on the first day and waxing it right away, I still love it so much I wax it as often as possible and love the way it rides, however i've never had this many issues with a vehicle ever.

Guys I need some help here, I don't post as much as I did at one time because when I do I get sad about my truck and when read about all the great luck you guys have been having.

Who can I talk with at Ford as far as customer service is concerned to help me out here, i've never been more saddened by a vehcile before in my life. All I know is I need this truck gone, I need to get it out of my possesion, i'm now too paranoid to even look at it, I just hope I dont become too paranoid to buy another Ford, I love fords, the style, and even love my 03 explorer they have me in, but i'm just very sickened by the whole deal..

Missed ya.

I think it is either time for an 03 L.Where it seems they figured out some of the issues and fixed them or time to move on.

My vote is for an 03.

Best of luck in whatever you decide.

I love my L, and never would trade it for anything....but, I'd honestly see if the dealer could cut you a deal with a trade in on a 03 Cobra...those things are mean!

whitetoast, sorry to hear of your troubles

but are you sure you got a new crate engine for #2? Sounds like serious manufacturing defect in #1 which they may just have rebuilt instead of giving you new engine? Original issues still present in rebuild? Would ask for serial number or other proof that you actually got new engine! Good Luck!

Sorry for your problems with the L. I would try to work a deal with your dealer on a 03.

Tuff luck.

Sounds like your insurance company and the ford dealer are the ones suffering.

Check out some of the other car boards, every mfg seams to have their share of problems.

Do ya feel lucky, punk...well do you?

I guess out of the 6381 Lightnings built in 2001 you were unlucky and got one that needs a little more love to keep her happy.
