White, I am sorry about all the trouble you are having it sucks. But atleast you are getting taken care of unlike a lot of other people. I wish you the best of luck with your new motor and if you decide to get something else I wish you luck there too. An 03 Lightning in Sonic Blue would be sweet.

Bro I am so sorry. Let them fix it and go straight to another Dealer and trade it in for either a 03 L or a 03 Cobra.
Either one is awesome and the 03 L's are showing great strenth SO FAR and seem to have delt with the important stuff FINALLY.
Better surface area for the head to seal, better head gasket, more threads in the heads. And no Rod Failures I know of YET.
The New Cobra's are Awesome too.
You'll absolutely never trust your L again, and you don't want that .

Now you got me feeling guilty for havong my 01 for 2 trouble free years
Well, they DID replace 3 sets of cracked fog lamps

A rod actually shot through the block, trust me its a new engine, no way it couldn't be. Good idea though, they told me it was a new crate engine when it just might have been a factory rebuild.

I'll keep you guys updated, I work 2 miles away from ford word headquarters, so even if I have to walk in there, all I really need is a pat on the back, I love my truck but I just dont trust it anymore, and actually for the first time in my life i've thought of buying a different brand. I still love ford and realize they do make one fine product, its just when I think about bringing the truck home for the first time and not being able to take my eyes off of it, to where i've come now, getting sick just writing about it.

Like eveyone else's advice, try for a good deal on an 03. Stick with the L, it is such an awesome vehicle if you get a good one, I had a 97 F150 with lots of problems (Tranny, Breaks, Rear End... and more) I stuck with Ford, I got a 99 F150 which was near perfect and now my 01 L which has been great for me. Hang in there... I really hope it works out for you
